t <br /> Board of Assessors Meeting Page 2 <br /> Update by David Bailey (continued) <br /> Reinspection. of Residential -Properties will be <br /> started next week. Building_ Permits have been completed. There <br /> willbe a. news release in "The nterprise" on Friday with <br /> explanation of what will take place. David Bailey explained that <br /> he will have Steve Ewing begin with the Map #1 properties in the <br /> north end of Town and work down to catch the lakes which have not <br /> been done in a lona time . . . perhaps nine years . The southern <br /> end of Town was done four/five years ago as well as New seabury <br /> and Popponesset . . . these probably will have to be done again. <br /> Steve has been instructed to gain entrance into every home and <br /> obtain the Homeowner ' s signature verifying inspection. Lengthy <br /> discussion followed, <br /> Vice Chairman Porter questioned if Steve will. be <br /> able to accomplish all of these reinspe tions on his own . Mr. <br /> Bailey informed that the reinspe tions are a large portion of the <br /> Liston ' s job requirements Steve will be working on these <br /> until December. fir. Porter pointed out that he noted some <br /> omissions in past years . David Bailey agreed that prior to his <br /> own employment, omissions were common; however, in the past <br /> five/six yea's, about 3 , 500 properties have been reinspected. . . <br /> about of the Town properties . some were building inspections <br /> some were at random. Kenneth Porter made comment the <br /> building additions pose a great problem. Mr. Bailey explained <br /> that this particular problem exists in all Towns; however, the <br /> best effort to reinspect all properties continues to be made in <br /> I+ ashpee. Discussion followed. <br /> David Bailey stated that he will have Steve work <br /> on these for about one month, then assess his progress, He <br /> expressed. - opinion that adding other people to do the <br /> reinspe tions usually does not solve the problem because prior <br /> experience is needed. Chairman Greig expressed agreement; he <br /> made suggestion that perhaps an Assistant Assessor could be <br /> appointed to perform some of these reinspe tions. Mr. Bailey <br /> initiated lengthy discussion regarding the adversities of having <br /> another employee involved in this natter. However, he will <br /> assess Steve' s progress after one month and will remain open to <br /> suggestions . Board Members expressed agreement. <br /> illow end - Grading of the Lots has been completed. <br /> David Bailey explained that he is still trying to find a way to <br /> apply the grading to the properties. Because they are <br /> condominiums, it is more difficult. Pat riot Properties is <br /> working on a way for Assessing to change Its system in order to <br /> i <br />
