Board of Assessors Meeting Page
Update bZ David Bailey: (continued)
Sout '1Por't
David Bailey informed that he has been working
with the developers at the site to get them started in a manner
where we can keep track of them. He explained he had great
fears that with 700 units out there and 100 started, we would
be getting building permits and not even knowing what buildings
they are working on. We got together with the Building
Department and the Town Clerk; - we numbered all their units and
gave them street numbers - we gave everything to them to give t
their planner to put on a site plan that will be "the gospel" .
it. Bailey pointed out that this is a big relief to hien and to
the Building Department it was a disaster in the making out
there they were using numbers that carne out of "thin air" .' !
David Bailey further informed that he visited the
site today; they are roving right along. They had just moved in
a construction trailer people were Irstorming all over the
lace" doing assessments of the buildings ! ! Chairman Greig
initiated discussion; he questioned the condition of the units.
Mr. Bailey informed that they are in far worse shape than -one
year ago he walked through the buildings today and found
not only a great deal of vandalism damage but severe structural
damage as well, mostly caused by water getting into the
insulation • . . the encs result of the vandalism. Mr. Bailey
expressed serious doubt that the rain building is salvagabl.e
. there is a serious rotting problem in the structural wood;
the frame of the building is almost all good "it ' s a
mess ' ! " Mr . Greig expressed hope there will be enough money to
repair all of this extensive damage. Mr, Porter made comment
this is not our concern! !
