Richard Kerrigan stated that <br /> his bank told hien .it had to pay his taxes . . t it was under law <br /> when the bill was submitted to the bank by the City. Board <br /> Members expressed disagreement. Mr. Kerrigan stated " "hey say <br /> that you do; they told me today that they issue one check to the <br /> Town of is hpee. " David Bailey replied "That may very well be <br /> but we don ' t . mail therm a bill . " He explained that most banks <br /> subscribe to a service where they get from every 'down in the <br /> country a computer printout of their Property owners who have <br /> taxes in that 'down. Mashpee sends the tax bill to the owner o <br /> Record to the most recent address known. <br /> Mr. Kerrigan angrily stated ""khat is one of our <br /> .contentions we never received a tax bill from the Town o <br /> Mashpee the bank received a request for payment from the <br /> 'own of Mashpee . . . you know where we live! ! " David Bailey <br /> asked if the a rigans r mailing address is 10 Libra Lame, <br /> Mashpee, MA. "Yes"l replied Mr. Kerrigan. Mr. Bailey <br /> emphatically stated "I think that the Tax Collector will sign a <br /> sworn affidavit - that your bill was railed to to Libra Lane, <br /> ashpee , M ,, and has been for recent years and she will <br /> have to, if you go to the Appellate "fax Board that ' s part <br /> of the process producing a bill with your address on it.' ! " <br /> Mr, Kerrigan asked "How can l get our taxes lowered in <br /> the future in regard to the assessments of the other properties <br /> in comparison that are on our streets"?" David Bailey advised that <br /> when he receives his tax bill next ye r, if he does not feel the <br /> assessment is appropriate, then he should file an application for <br /> n abatement. This is a Revaluation Year and everyone ' s property <br /> value is going to change. Mrs . Kerrigan asked which bill and the <br /> timeframe for filing; Mr. Bailey informed it will be the December <br /> of 1998 bill ; deadline for filing will be whenever the bill is <br /> due . . . February 1 most likely. Mr. and Mrs . Kerrigan agreed <br /> they should file for abatements on thein 1997 anti 1998 tax bills , <br /> have he - Board deny the abatements , then go to the appellate Tax <br /> Board. The Kerrigans filed for the two abatements . <br /> Vice Chairman Porter made notion The Board deny the <br /> abatements on Mr. and Mrs . Richard Kerrigan ' s FY1997 and FY1998 <br /> Meal Property Taxes on 10 Libra Lane due to late filing; Marcia <br /> King made second the motion; motion passed; unanimous decision. <br /> The Board denied the abatements on February 24 , 1998 . <br />
