TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> } Minutes of the Meeting f Tuesday, June 6, 2006 <br /> Boated Members Present: Members Absent; Also Present: <br /> Jason Streebel, chairman Marcia ding, Vice Chairman John Duffy, Director of Assessing <br /> Paul Andrews, Clerk <br /> Chairman Jason Streebel called the meeting to order at 5:50 Pull. <br /> REVIEW II of MINUTES <br /> The minutes from the meebng held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, were corrected as follows: the time <br /> the meeting was carred to order was changed from 6:45 PM to 5:45 PM. <br /> Paul Andrews made a motion to approve as corrected the minutes from the 4118106 Board of <br /> Assessors meeting. Jason Streebel seconded the motion. All approved. <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS REPORTS <br /> Deport fromJason StreebeL <br /> 1. Jason Streebel reported on his attendance-today at a meeting of the Massachusetts Association <br /> of Assessing Officers i1 AAO . Jason is a member of the Association's Legislative Committee. <br /> .Jason learned today at the meeting that any eluted official to serge on the Board of Assessors who <br /> wants to have vestiture in a refir m nt plan, no matter hover much or how little they are paid, as long <br /> as they are employed for 10 gears, may retire from the Town and receive any of the benefits other <br /> Town retirees might receive. ' <br /> 2. A bill sponsored by the 11 AA , which is likely to be passed this year, would adopt a stipend for <br /> Directors of Assessing for at least$1000 per year. Anyone working for the Town holding ars MAA . <br /> designation would be eligible. <br /> 3. The only other MAAO bill passed in FY'06 F '06was the ability to transfer budgetary balances by the <br /> finance director from Assessors departments in the last two months of the fiscal year in order to add <br /> to the General Fuad, with Town Counsel's approval. <br /> 4. Jason announced a Barnstable County Assessors Association meeting in 1 eli eet on Friday, <br /> June9th. Since the new president of the Association will not be installed until the winter meeting, <br /> the current president, Scott Fable, Deputy Assessor in Dennis, will continue his term as president <br /> until then. <br /> . course 3, given by the County Assessors Association, is now in process in Sandwich, with 21 <br /> students attending. There is a proposal to move the course to a location in Bourne next year to a <br /> lamer facility in order to accommodate more students, with the purchase of additional new <br /> equipment as well, for use in the course. <br /> Report from Paul Andrews. <br /> 1. Membership in the Barnstable county Board of Assessors Association. Patel Andrews <br /> stated that he would like to become a member of the Barnstable County Board of Assessors <br /> Association. Jason Streebel stated that if the Mashpee Assessors Office already has paid for fire <br /> memberships to the Association, there would be no chane for any additional memberships. <br /> 1 <br />
