i <br /> TOWN OF MAS <br /> BOARD OFASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday, .duly 5, 2006 <br /> Board Members Present: Board Members Absent: Also Present: <br /> Jason Streebel, Chairman Marcia King, Vice Chairman John Duffy, Director of Assessing <br /> Paul Andrews, Clerk Joyce Mason, Town Administrator <br /> Chairman Jason Streebel called the meeting to order at : o PIM. <br /> REVIEW of MINUTES <br /> Paul Andrews made a motion to approve as submitted the minutes from the meeting of the Board of <br /> Assessors held on June 6, 2006. Jason Streebel seconded the motion. All approved. <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS REPORT ORT—Mason Streebel <br /> 1. Jason Streebel reported that the Board of Assessors had received an email from Marcia ling, dated <br /> 8/23/06, in which she stated that as of June 30, 2006 she would no longer be a member of the Board of <br /> Assessors. The Board will look into the reason(s) why. <br /> DIRECTOR of ASSESSING REPORT T-Jotrn Duffy <br /> 1. Abatement on a Fie-sent Bill. Jason Streebel explained that a problem had occurred as a result of <br /> an incorrect address that was used to mail three tax bills to l ashpee resident Mrs. Kitchell, which she <br /> never received. Several years lamer, Mrs. Mitchell went to refinance her house and discovered the unpaid <br /> tax bills, which she subsequently paid, thinking erroneously that it was necessary in order to refinance her <br /> house. In order to correct the situation, the Ma hpee tax collector reissued the tax bills for the gears in <br /> question, using the correct address. Mrs.rs. Mitchell thea was in a position to apply for the tax abatements. <br /> Paul Andrews made a motion to approve the personal property tax abatement application of Mrs. <br /> . <br /> Mitchell's personal property tax bills for the fiscal years 2001 t 2002, and 2003 as reissued by l lashpee <br /> Treasurer Torn Connolly under the instructions of Kathleen Colle ry, Chief, Bur au of Municipal Finance <br /> Lawn, Division of Local Services, Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue. Jason Streebel seconded the motion. <br /> All approved. <br /> . Abatement on a supplemental Tax Bill— 236 Gleneagle Drive. John Duffy recommended denial <br /> of the abatement application on a supplemental tax bill in the amount of$1.3 million by Sean and Jeffrey <br /> Levine of 236 Gfeneagle Drive. <br /> Paul Andrews made a motion to deny the supplemental tax abatement application request by Seam and <br /> Jeffrey Levine of 236 Glenea le Drive. Jason Streebel seconded the emotion. All approved. <br /> . Transfer from Overlay Account <br /> Jason Streebel made a motion to release from FY 2000 10}000, and from FY 2002$18,374.50, or a total <br /> of$28,874.50, from the Oveday Surplus Account to cover the fallowing prior year provisions for <br /> abatements where there are shortfalls: <br /> 1989-$790.60 <br /> 1990-$11455.20 <br /> 2001 -$26,628.70 <br /> Paul Andrews seconded the motion. A!I approved. <br /> Jason Streebel made a motion to release from the overlay Surplus Accounts amounts from three fiscal <br /> years as follows: <br /> 1 <br />
