I
i kh
2002 -$ 21,125.50
2003-$125,000-00
} 2004- 5M10.53
or a total of$204,536.03, to be transferred into the revaluation account to restore funding for a pre-
existing
re;e isting position in the Assessors Office. Paul Andrews seconded the motion. All approved.
DISCUSSION
1, Article to Restore stipend for Board of Assessors Members. Jason Streebel read the text of a
proposed Article for presentation at Town Meeting:
"'To see if the Town will vote to restore the Stipend for members of the Board of Assessors positions, and
for said purpose the Town to transfer from available funds$3600 to the Assessors Elected Salary
Account, or take any other action relating thereto. Explanation:
1 to restore a stipend .
to restore funding to a pre- xisbrrg account. The amount to be funded, $100.00 for
members for 12 months=$3,500.00."
Joyce Mason confirmed that the line was still in plane for the stipend but the funding would require
approval by the Board of Selectmen, prior to the Town Meeting vote.
. Article to Transfer from Available Funds to be disbursed to the Assessing part4ime salary
Account. Jason Streebel read the text of a proposed Article for presentation at Town Meeting:
"To see if the Town will vote to transfer from available funds$7,450 to be disbursed as follows:
$7,141.00 to the Assessing part-time salary account
$ 320.60 to the Medicare Account or take any other action relating thereto.
Explanation. To restore funding for an 18-hour position."
Joyce Mason confirmed that there is an existing part-time Assessing Office position which is not currently
funded. The Assessing Office needs to decide whether the position should be a property Lister, or an all
around pert-time Assessing Office employee. Joyce Mason observed that it would be easier to get a
favorable vote to fund an existing part-time position, rather than to create a new position of Property
Lister.
3. Rubber Stamp Policy, Paul Andrews stated that he hes issues with the current existing lack of
communication between the Assessors Office and the Board of Assessors. Joyce Mason stated that she
concurred, and has recommended twice-monthly BOA meetings to John Luffy. She feels that two
meetings per month would improve the Eines of communication. Joyce also suggested that email is a
good way to keep the BOA informed. Paul Andrews stated that the BOA plans to come up with a new
rubber stamp pollW, along with suggestions for a c om unrcabon conduit that will keep the inforTnabon
flows circulating between the BOA and the Assessor's Office. Jason Streebel stated that he is in
agreement that the BOA should meet as frequently as necessary, and especially during the abatement
period of the year.
NEXT MEETING. The next meeting of the Board of Assessors was scheduled for Wednesday, ,duly 1 g#
2005, at the Assessors Office at 5:45 PM.
