Warrant for Refunding of the Board of Assessors stipend. Paul Andrews reported on the <br /> status of the refunding of the stipend for the BOA members. The Board of Selectmen has <br /> . approved the re ur pfion of the Town stipend to the BOA, and it v ill now go to the next Town <br /> Meeting for approval. The Town stipend for the Board member is$1200 per month. There is <br /> also a$800 stipend from the Water Department, currently in effect, which is paid quarterly. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> 1. Rubber stamp Policy Review. Paul Andrews reviewed for Sheldon Holzer the Rubber <br /> Stamp Policy, which was adopted by the BOA at the August 9, 2006 BOA meeting. Sheldon <br /> Holzer was given a copy of the Policy, and acknowledged his receipt by signing off on the original <br /> Assessing Office document. <br /> . open Meeting Law. Paul Andrews gage a copy of the Open meeting Law to Sheldon Holzer, <br /> who acknowledged his receipt of a copy of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 39: Section 23B: <br /> Open Meetings of Governmental bodies from the Town of Ma hpee Burd of Assessors by <br /> signing the attached Acknowledgement document(see Attachment A). <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> I. course 101 Review wr F equIrement. Paul Andre rs presented a Course 101 binder to Sheldon <br /> Holzer, containing the material covered by Course 10 1. Course '101 attendance is a requirement <br /> for all BOA members. At the end of the course, an open book test is conducted. Board members <br /> are required to pass the test in order to continue as a BOA member. <br /> . Applications for Personal Exemption <br /> Persona!Exemptions for Blindness <br /> The following two Personal Exemption Applications for Blindness were received for review: Fruth <br /> Murphy and Donna Fabrizio. <br /> Jason Streebel made a motion to approve the above two Exemption ption Applications for Blindness. <br /> Paul Andrews seconded the motion. All approved. <br /> Community Prese ratfon Act Tax <br /> Paul Andrews reported a total surcharge comm ftent for the fiscal year endingJune 30, 2008, o <br /> $890,491.13, less the abatement and exemptions of$4,157.39, leaving a net surcharge of <br /> $8889333.74. <br /> Jason streebel made a motion to approve the surcharge figures. Sheldon Holzer seconded the <br /> . motion. All approved. <br /> Request for Veterans Bx mptfon <br /> The following application for Veterans Exemption was received from Suzanne B. Smith Fealty <br /> Trust, 21 Pine Hill Blvd. The application was recommended for denial because no schedule o <br /> beneliclades was supplied. <br /> Jason Streebel made a motion to suspend approval of the Request for Veterans Exemption for <br /> Suzanne B. Sm th Fealty Trust, 21 Pine Hill Blvd., until a schedule of beneficiaries is Identified. <br /> Sheldon Holzer seconded the motion. All approved. <br /> . Bill to Increase Veterans Exemption Amounts <br /> Jason Streebel reported that Governor Romney recently signed a law into effect to increase <br /> benefit amounts for veterans, to give bonuses to returning veterans.
