Assistant Director of Assessing Position Vacancy.ncy. Jason Streebel announced that Tony <br /> Podlesney, Assistant Director of Assessing, has taken a position in the Town of Barnstable Assessing <br /> Office. His last day in the ll ash ee office will be Friday, February 23, 2007. The position vacancy <br /> has been posted. <br /> . Abatement Applications Received eiv Date. Jason Streebel reported receipt -date of 100 <br /> applications for abatement this year, 94 meal Estate and 6 Personal Property. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> 1. Toon Warrant for Board Stipend. Jason Streebel distributed copies of a revised Article he <br /> prepared for consideration by the Board of Selectmen for presentation at the next Town Meeting. <br /> The purpose of the Article is to see whether the Town will vote to restore the $100 per month stipend <br /> for members of the BOA positions, using the$3,600 in funds previously released for this purpose <br /> from the Overlay Surplus Account. Because the'Article was due last llllonday, Paul Andrews gave his <br /> approval to Jason Streebel to submit the Article to the Board of Selectmen, prior to BOA approval at <br /> the meeting tonight. <br /> Joyce Mason has advised Jason Streebel than in her opinion, the education requirement argument in <br /> support of the stipend will not carry much weight with the Town. With that in mind, the Board <br /> members suggested including the following points to justify the stipend restoration: <br /> - Special education requirements for Board members <br /> - involvement in ATB uses and other field wort, <br /> - Overlay Surplus Account is already approved for funding the stipend <br /> Paul Andrews agreed to draft a letter in support of paying a stipend to elected or appointed members <br /> of the BOA, and will include in the letter the above three points. Jason Streebel will contact Gail <br /> Fit back, Director of Assessing in the Town of Eastham to determine whether the BOA in that town <br /> receives a stipend. <br /> . senior Tax Moocher Work-Off Program. Jason Streebel distributed draft copies of a letter, <br /> prepared by Paul Andrews; to games Long, Executive Director of the lashpee Senior Center, and <br /> draft copies of an application, prepared by Jason Streebel, for participation in the Senior Tac Voucher <br /> Work-Off Program. The Board suggested the following additions to the application foam: a <br /> requirement that the applicant,must be domiciled in Mashpee, and a requirement that a copy of the <br /> applicant's drivers license accompany the application fora. Jason Streebel noted that currently there <br /> is$18,000 corning out of the Assessors Overlay Surplus Account to cover the Work-Off program. <br /> Sheldon Holzer made a motion that the Board of Assessors approve sending Chairman Paul F <br /> Andrews" letter to.harries Long, Executive Director of the Mash pee Senior center, pertaining to the <br /> BOA decision regarding Joseph Bank and Qualifications for Exemption. Gregg Fraser seconded the <br /> motion. All approved. <br /> 2 <br />
