y <br /> A <br /> _ TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD ASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday, November 21, 2007 <br /> Board Members Present: Also Present: <br /> Paul Andrews, Chairman Jason Streebel, Director of Assessing <br /> Sheldon Holzer, Vice Chairman . <br /> Gregg Fraser, clerk <br /> - CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairman Paul Andrews called the meeting to order at 6:42 Pull. <br /> REVIEW of MINUTES <br /> motion was made, seconded and passed to approve as presented the minutes from <br /> the meeting held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007. }. <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS REPORTS <br /> The Board members expressed Judos to the Assessing ice and consultant Paul <br /> I apinos for the successful completion of the preliminary certification for Ma hpee. <br /> DIRECTOR of ASSESSING REPORT—Jason Streebel <br /> 1. Preliminary certification. Jason Streebel reported that llllashpee received <br /> prelimirnary certification in three weeks from the date submitted by Grace Sandell, DOFF <br /> representative. The certification strategy was begun in early March o ` . ,with the Town <br /> of M shpee spending $25,,000 to redo the land schedule from scratch. A certification <br /> manual is available in the Assessing Office for review for anyone who is interested. <br /> i . Basic over all Information re: certification i <br /> 0 Assessed values went down by about 1.4% over last year. Residential went <br /> down, and commercial went up a bit single families went down 2.4%, vacant <br /> land went up 3%, and commercial gent up 6.8%. <br /> • Final certification by DOR has not yet been received. At this time vire are 3 days <br /> into the public disclosure period. Most of the Mashpee residents are happy VAth <br /> the results of the revaluation. Over all, the Town has lost about 1% in assessed <br /> Value. The growth of the Town of Mashpee has offset the overall assessed loss, <br /> with $68 million in assessed growth, and $65 million in assessed loss. Jason <br /> estimated that the tax rate for Mashpee will be in the range of 6.50%. <br /> 0 Timeline: public disclosure runs through Tuesday, Nov. 27th. Wednesday <br /> morning Jason will send a recap,for approvaI for final certification, hope uIly by <br /> Monday, Dec. 3. Classification hearings for the Water District and the Town <br /> have been scheduled for 12/03/07—5 PIS at the Water District, and 7 PM at <br /> Torun Hall. The Board of Assessors is invited to both hearings. On Tuesday, <br /> Dec. ", final recap with all signatures approving the tax rate will be sent to the <br /> State DOR. - <br />
