r <br /> TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> BOARD OF ASSESSORS <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Monday, June 9, 2008 + <br /> Board Members Present: Also Present: <br /> Paul Andrews, Chairman Jason Btreebel, Director of Assessing <br /> Sheldon Holzer, Vice Chairman .Joyce Mason, To rn Manager <br /> Gregg Fraser, Clerk <br /> Chairman Paul Andrews called the meeting to order at 5:15 PM. <br /> NEVA BUSINESS <br /> A motion was made, seconded and passed to move discussion on the Board Stipend <br /> and recertiffication to the first order of business. . <br /> BOARD STIPENDIRECERTIFICATION <br /> Joyce Mason stated that this is the first year the BOA stipend has been reinstated, and <br /> she had been asked by the Board of Selectmen for a report on any required training for <br /> recertffication by BOA members. Ripon investigation, Joyce Mason confirmed that the <br /> Board members are certified until they are out of the Assessing arena for a certain <br /> number of years. The question then was asked about whether there had been any <br /> ongoing recertffication training, and what training had taken place for this year. This <br /> question was asked as a result of the issue raised at Town Meeting that reimbursement <br /> expenses for travel related to recertification training should be taken into consideration <br /> when approving the reinstatement of a BOA stipend. <br /> Sheldon Holzer stated that in no war had he meant to imply in his statements at Town <br /> Meeting that travel for reinstatement training was an every year occurrence, but that it <br /> was just one of a number of travel related requirements for the Board of Assessors job. <br /> Gregg Fraser stated that he has to renew his NIA accreditation and needs to revi with <br /> Jason Sreebel what training will be required for this and where it will take place. . <br /> REVIEW of MINUTES <br /> A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve as submitted the minutes of the <br /> BOA meeting of 4/28/08. <br /> BOARD of ASSESSORS REPORTS <br /> Paul Andrews, C reir a n. Paul Andrews reported that he intended to apply for the <br /> opening position on the Board of Health. His letter of interest is due in by 6111/08. <br /> Sheldon Holzer,llice Chairman. No report. <br /> . Gregg Fraser, clerk. No report. <br /> DIRECTOR of ASSESSING REPORT, <br /> 1- .Jason Streebei stated that he had been subpoenaed to appear in court June 12th and <br /> 13 Barnstable Superior Court regarding the Blythe-Caf yn case. Jason Streebel will <br /> testify as to why Nla tepee combined the two parcels of land which at one time were <br /> assessed as separate parcels, owned by the same person. The case is essentially <br /> about access to the Poppneset spit across the Blythe property. <br /> l <br />
