4
'L
being level-funded. Some offices were hit harder than others, with the reduction of some line
items. The Assessing Office had an over-all budget reduction of 4%, including a reduction of
hours to 19 per week for the Assistant Director of Assessing position.
. DOR Workshop— -23-09
Jason Streebel reported on his attendance at a workshop given by the Dept. of Revenue for
towns that are going to be corning up for certification in FY'2010 and 2011, with Il ashpee
coming due in 2011. The workshop was well attended by the DOR staff as well as 40 to 50
Assessor's from the South Shore towns. Some of the items that will be under future scrutiny by
the DOFF include:
1. Building cost Tables—to ensure they are up-to-date and accurate
2. Corr merolal lns rial Properties—to ensure that the prime site is related to
use and not to someone else's use, i.e., a hotel that sits on a five-acre site but has
only a one-acre prime use
3. Sales codes and use of the S Coale- a new code created by the DOFF related
to foreclosures
. Time Tread—will require a separate analysis
. Commercial Personal Property—ensure that the town is on a -year cycle, with a
requirement of the date of the last inspection
. LA 3 Sales Report—will now be required to be submitted annually. Previously, it
was submitted only on the certification year.
. Wireless Issues—one company has asked the BOA to agree to a settlement for
the last couple of years, and the future methodology going forward. Should the curr nt
BOA eater into such an agreement, it would not be binding on a future BOA. To be
considered is the fact that any methodology agreed upon with one company would have to
be applied to all wireless companies. Jason Streebel will bring more information on this
issue to the next BOA meeting.
. Cyclical Measure and List for Town of Mashpee
Jason Streebel stated that the list was started last year, and will be completed by spring of 2010
calendar year. The list was mandated by the Department of Revenue for our F 2 11
certification.
OLD BUSINESS
No old business.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Real Estate Abatement Application Approvals
A motion was made, seconded and passed to recess the BOA meeting at : 00 PM to review
the real estate abatement applications submitted for approval.
A motion was made, seconded and passed to resume the BOA meeting at 6:09 PM.
A action was made, seconded and passed to approve the Real Estate Abatement Application
for Kay Barrett and Robert Clever at 30 Windsor Point.
