Capital Improvement Committee
Minutes
November 9, 1999
CIP Submissions Review:
Fibra
Helene DeFoel., Librarian discussed the capital improvement needs of the
l a h ee Library. As noted, the prior appropriation of$25,,000 is ongoing
for the feasibility study, which is anticipated to be completed this spring.
ate bond ant funding will contribute up to 1 Td of the cost o
Possible state gr g
the expansion.
The sum of$1,' 00,000 has been determined for construction, v ith a
estimate f$200,000 for equipment t bring forth a total prof ected cast of
$11900M00. The expansion of the facility is expected to meet the
informational service needs of the community for the next twenty years.
It is hopeful that funds will be attained and secured for the library
expansion project. 1lashpee appears to be on the priority list for grant
funding. Although it is premature t detenrrrn ,the feasibility
study and preparation towardsattaining grant funds will most likely be
completed prior to Town fleeting appropriation.
It was noted that all project cost estimates should include architectural,
en gineering and construction fees to brim forth a total appropriation for
estimated disbursements required for future building project proposals.
Police Department:
William C. Pr ybylel , Chief of Police reviewed his capital improvement
budget get submission. The two-year lease of Trine police cruiser vehicles was
deemed urgent. The program is a continuation that the Police Department
has been using for a number of years to economically replace its cruisers
on a regular basis before they become unreliable and costly to maintain.
The replacement of two police vehicles using a four-year lease is also
deemed an urgent request. Police cruisers are considered a critical item of
the department to ensure the most reliable transportation for response to
emergency and routine calls on a -hour basis.
