w
i
a
Capital Improvement Committee
Minutes
November 9,, 1999
CIP SubmissionsReview:
Police Dedie t: (continued)
Seven ofthe nine police cruiser vehicles requested with a two-gear lease
have been deemed urgent frontline emergency response vehicles. The
maximi usage for a cruiser vehicle is two years. The additional two
police cruiser vehicles with atwo-year lease could possibly be considered
as leased vehicles for an additional year. Of the four-year leased vehicles,
a five-year lease could also be considered in an effort to reduce budgetary
constraints.
The Police Department has also requested second-gear funding for a three-
year funding program for the replacement of an obsolete Dispatch Center
Recording System. The equipment was funded for its first year through its
previous approval. The request is considered urgent.
Recently, several heat pump units in the Police Department have failed.
Chief Przybylek requested the Committee defer the Firearms Replacement
nt
in the amount of$251,000 to fiscal year 2003, and respectively consider the
heat pump replacement in fiscal year 2001 in the amount o $15,000 and
$15,000 in 2002. This is a multiple lease consisting of two annual
payments. The request is deemed urgent since the wits provide both heat
and air conditioning to most of the facility.
Other considerations for forthcoming fiscal gears include; additional two-
year and four-year vehicle leases for the replacement of cruisers, the lease
of two police motorcycles, the construction of a vehicle shelter for police
cruisers and the replacement of the heating system for the original portion
f the police station.
