Capital Improvement Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> November 1 , 1999 <br /> CIP Submissions Review: <br /> School: (continued) <br /> It was noted that replacement of the nine-year-old caprice station wagon is <br /> contained in the present School budget. Four vans are expected to be <br /> purchased over a five-year period to bring forth a total of five vans for the <br /> School Department. One of which should be handicap accessible to <br /> accommodate two wheel chairs. <br /> The replacement of boilers at the Coombs School is anticipated to be <br /> replaced with two high efficient boilers, which w-i11 he more affective and <br /> less expensive to operate. The estimate is $18,000. <br /> It was also noted that the relocation of School Administrative Office's <br /> is presently,under review. The use of space at the water District will be <br /> investigated. A potential long-term location under consideration will be <br /> reviewed in phase II of the Town Dail renovation project. <br /> Department of PublicWorks: <br /> Greg Taylor,the Director of Public worts was present to discuss his <br /> department's capital improvement needs for fiscal year 2001. As noted, <br /> the replacement of the 1972 road grader is a year 3 of 3 l ease/purchase in <br /> the amount of$25,000. <br /> The sum f$30,,000 is requested to replace a used 1960's generator that <br /> powers only 25% of the DPW building and is failing. The Selectmen <br /> recently voted to request the Finance Committee authorize an emergency <br /> reserve fund transfer. Current hid estimates for an emergency generator <br /> have reflected the replacement to cost $28,000. The Finance Committee is <br /> expected to make a determination at their next scheduled meeting. <br /> The 2-1/2 cu, yd. wheeled loader in the amount of$60,000 in fiscal year <br /> 2001 is proposed to replace a 1994 loader. The vehicle could possibly be <br /> deferred for one year only. <br />
