y
CIP Committee
Minutes
January 8, 200
School partment:
Wheelchair Van: - $14,975 (continued)
It was noted that the School would assume under their general operating
budget, additional insurance costs associated to a new wheelchair van. In
addition to increased insurance, added employees and associated benefits
would also need to be considered with the lease purchase proposal. A new
van would begin the vehicle replacement plan proposed for special needs
transportation. The 1996 van to be replaced has over 200,000 miles.
The CIP Committee requested the School Department provide a list of the
current vehicles used by the School, to include vehicle age, present
mileage, number of students utilizing the vehicles, and mileage usage per
vehicle for additional review.
Cohn uter Lab Replacement: - $961000
Although-the School Department was instructed that computer lab
expenditures are not capital improvement program expenditures, a detailed
rationale was submitted to look upon the purchase as an entity that is
system-amide and not as individual computer replacement units. The
School Department indicated that they are unable'to absorb this type of
expense in their regular operating budget.
total of 192 computers are proposed to be replaced to accommodate
current software. The existing 192 computers woifld be replaced system-
wide to upgrade the lower grades levels to higher speeds to ging the
schools into the 21 century, and allow for increased communication and
MUMS capability in school offices.
Included in the $96,000 estimate are computer upgrades that include the
purchase of additional software, printers and keyboards.
