2
Capital Improvement Committee
Minutes
December 7, 2004
Review of CIP Requests:
Harbormaster:
FY200 , e t: 2 Outboards -$20,658:
Perry Ellis,Harbormaster-waspresent to request the Committee support
the replacement of 2 1998 four-strobe outboard engines for the two main
patrol boats traversing the salt waters.
One outboard has 3,000 miles, the other 2,800 miles. In relation to ear
mileage, 1,000 outboard motor hours would equal 100,000 vehicle hours.
Departmental boats include;two salt water and,two fresh water boats, one
pump-out, and an off-shore rescue boat that was purchased new two years
ago.
Funding exists and would derive from the waterways Improvement
Account. Discussion followed regarding the trade-in value of the motors
and the use of spare parts. The trade-in value is approximately$2-300 per
outboard. The better of the two outboard engines could be used as an
offset to serve as an emergency back-up outboard.
