Capital Improvement Program Committee
Minutes
December 13, 2005
School: (continued)
System wide Security__Phase II - $60,000:
Phase II would allow for digital surveillance and access control at all three
schools. A card swipe door system would be installed to control and
monitor access to the school buildings. Surveillance systems would
provide 24 hour digitally recorded monitoring of the inside perimeters of
all of the schools.
The proposal was recommended for use at all Town buildings. It was
noted the Police Department also has the card snipe/surveillance proposal
in their FY07 budget request.
I .C. Coombs Bathrooms- $40,000...-.
Additional bathrooms for students and staff'were contained in the FY06
school budget request. In-house support has reduced the estimate by
$101,000. Presently there are 86 adults in the building utilizing two
restroom facilities. Two staff members are male, the remainder female.
Guidelines stipulate there shall be separate toilet facilities for male and
female employees.
S Air Conditionir - $25,000:
The referenced sum would allow for the department to conduct a
feasibility study and engineering plans for upgrading the air conditioning
to include all of the classrooms contained in the high school. It was noted
the windows ill the building are too small to bring i fresh air to have any
effect on room temperature. This type of environment is deemed
unsuitable for learning.
School: - It was agreed that all building issues will be forwarded to the
Planning and Construction Committee for input and review. The School
Department was requested to list their project priorities after Technology
Infrastructure Phase 11 & III, and the K.C.
