2 <br /> Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 1 , 2005 <br /> School: (continued) <br /> School Committee member Janice Mills indicated there is an immediate <br /> need to improve the Wireless network at the high school. It was noted the <br /> Information Technology budget has phased the capital request for a <br /> wireless network in a seven-year plan as a result of budgetary constraints. <br /> It was agreed that an ad hoe group would further review grant funding <br /> initiatives and request additional review from the Cable&Advanced <br /> Technology Advisory Board. <br /> ICC &Quashnet Flooring Phase II - $150,000: <br /> Last year, the CIP funded Phase I & II in the amount o $124,25 0 by <br /> replacing the and carpeting in the Coombs and Quashnet Schools. The <br /> School Department has consolidated the six year, six phase program into a <br /> three year project. The new Phase II request was originally depicted as <br /> Phase III & W in the capital improvement program. <br /> Approval of the new Phase fI flooring replacement would allow the <br /> department to replace the remainder of the VCT and classroom carpet at <br /> the I .C. Coombs School and complete projects at the Quashnet School. <br /> Maintenance-Grounds Vehicle -,$40,000: <br /> A quote for a Ford F350 D W Dump Truck was presented in the amount <br /> f$39,578 to replace a vehicle the School Department that was purchased <br /> as a used vehicle. Presently there are 90,000 heavy-duty miles on the <br /> maintenance grounds vehicle that is used for snow plowing and to tow <br /> heavy equipment to job sites. <br /> Quashnet HVAC Phase II - $ oo: <br /> It was noted the Phase I HVAC replacement was completed in fiscal year <br /> 2006. Additional capital funding is requested in FY07 to replace the <br /> HWC units that serve the kitchen, loading clod and boiler area. The sum <br /> has increased from last year's budget request to ielude an additional unit <br /> to provide proper air exchange in the boiler room to ensure efficiency. It <br /> was noted that Units#4 &#5 have not been operational for some time. <br /> The issue was taken under advisement and Will be forwarded to the <br /> Planning& Construction Committee for additional review. <br />
