At heir last meeting,
the CIP Committee agreed to defer the three year acquisition of two
marked police patrol vehicles. Due to budgetary constraints, the
Conimittee considered a replacement program that would allow the
department to lease/purchase nine vehicles. The vehicle replacement plan
of the Police Department requests eleven lease/purchase vehicles in F Y07.
The Chief discussed the importance of maintaining a long term program in
accord with his department's vehicle replacement plan. Following the
initial three year usage, the vehicles would be rotated and used by the
department for an additional three years.
The program includes commitment to the second year of a gree-year
lease/purchase program for seven marked police patrol vehicles and the
first of a to-year acquisition of two marked patrol vehicles.
It was noted that repairs are costly and the replacement program is deemed
detrimental to the operation and safety of the department.
