3 Capital-Improvement Program Committee Minutes December 19, 2006 Building & Grounds(Planning & Construction Catherine Laurent, Assistant Director of the Department of Public Works was present to recommend building and grounds projects for fiscal year 2008. 1t was noted, the Planning & Construction Committee has not prioritized their project requests to the CIP Committee to date. The installation of a new shingle roof at the Town Hall ll building was prioritized as the roof-boards are-deteriorating and shingles are becoming loose. The plywood and existing shingles would be removed and replaced. The project request is $40,000. An additional priority is the installation of a new rubber membrane on the lower section of the Ton Hall facility. The flat roof, installed nth the renovation in 1996 has leafed for a number of years. The membrane was sealed last year as a temporary measure. The budget estimate of$30.,000 includes the rubber membrane, re-flashing of the parapet and improvements to the roof s drainage system. The need for carpeting was reviewed and prioritized. A budget estimate of$55,000 would replace all of the carpeting in the Town Hall building. The existing carpet was installed in 1996. There is visible wear in a number of locations,the worst being the front foyer location. Discussion followed with regards to phasing the carpet replacement. Ms. Laurent was requested to break-don the carpet cost analysis for additional consideration. In the area of safety, the replacement of the carpet in the front foyer was prioritized. Additional capital improvement project requests include parking lot improvements to the DPW facility. This has been ars ongoing request of the Department of Public Works. The existing parking lot is severely cracked and has settled in a number of areas since it was resurfaced in 1986. The DPW shares the space with the Harbormaster and Shellfish Warden. J
