Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Mmi utes <br /> December 18, 2007 <br /> APPOWTM NTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> The Capital Improvement Program Committee reviewed the following <br /> capital budget requests for fiscal year 2009 and ensuing years. <br /> Fire Department: <br /> George Baker, Fire Chief was in attendance to review the FY09 capital <br /> improvement program request of the Fire Department. The following <br /> items were prioritized for the Committee's consideration; <br /> Year three of a three year air pack replacement program i the amount of <br /> $45,,000 a.s given top priority to continue the intended purchase to equip <br /> the Fire Department with new breathing apparatus to meet the current <br /> national standard. Ten additional air packs would be acquired in the <br /> program. <br /> In FYo ,the replacement of the Fire Chief's vehicle is proposed at a <br /> projected$35,000 cost. At the time of replacement,the 4VM vehicle <br /> would have an estimated 75,000 miles. The current Chiefs vehicle would <br /> then be re-assigned to the Fire Inspector. The fifteen year old inspector' <br /> vehicle would be used as a transfer to another department. The Fire <br /> i <br /> Chief s vehicle has been in the CIP programsi ee 2007. Mr. Baker noted <br /> that funds from the ambulance receipts account may be allowable for the <br /> intended vehicle purchase. <br /> Vehicle computing is proposed to continue the fire and rescue department <br /> program to access GIS, dispatch, and pre-fire planning data m all response <br /> vehicles. A.three year program is considered for an estimated cost of <br /> $35,000 per year. Currently,the department has equipped four out of <br /> eleven vehicles. <br /> new third ambulance is considered for purchase utilising funding from <br /> the ambulance receipts account. Funds exist in the account to purchase <br /> and equip the$200,000 ambulance. The need was agreed upon with the <br /> construction of the new fire substation and for the benefit of the growing <br /> 1lashpee community. <br />
