NIASHP E COUNCIL ON AGING <br /> FEBRUARY 11, 2004 <br /> IN ATTENDANCE: ALSO PRESENT: <br /> Arthur Weinstein James Long <br /> Jeanne Noussee Lynne Waterman <br /> Leila Botsford Joan Larsson <br /> Marijo Dorney Louise Patrick <br /> Mimi Mullen <br /> ABSENVEXCUSED <br /> Regina Godfrey <br /> The chairperson opened the meeting at 9:10 in Meeting Room 2 of the Nkshpee Town <br /> Hall. <br /> Motion was made to accept the minutes of the November meeting and the minutes were <br /> approved and seconded—no meetings were held in December or January. <br /> Louise Patrick was recognised to ask that the Council consider endorsing <br /> "1 Iashpee/Fah outh UnPlugged" and brought a calendar showing the many activities <br /> which could take the place of television. She cited a groing list of groups endorsing the <br /> idea and talked about the significant tune seniors watch television. Leila made a motion <br /> to endorse the idea, and Jeanne seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. <br /> Also, Joan Larson was recognized to mention that the gift shop volunteers will meet on <br /> Wednesday,March 31 at 9:00—shop will open on April 19. Also, Joan mentioned that <br /> volunteer drivers who transport seniors are not covered by insurance. Other towns do <br /> offer coverage. A suggestion was made to inquire about policies offered by other towns. <br /> Treasurer's Report-- Jim Long introduced the Treasurer's Report, Through January 31 <br /> (7 months), 51.8%of the budget has been expended. The new van was expected on <br /> February 12, so vehicular expenses would be greatly reduced; first year or to—no <br /> repairs. The current van was to be taken to salvage. It mares no financial sense to beep <br /> it . A motion to approve the Treasurer's Report was offered by Imi Mullen and <br /> seconded by Leila Botsford. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Director's Report—Fundraism* is proceeding to meet additional needs which will not <br /> be covered by existing funding for the new Seniors' Center. Recently, Keys an donated <br /> ,8 00 for that purpose and the New Seabury Women"s Club donated 1,000. The <br /> FISC,Inc. continues to meet on an almost weekly basis to organize their fundraising <br /> efforts. Heidi Trottier, former President of lahpee Chamber of Corriere, has joined <br /> the board. A Volunteer session is scheduled for March 1 . <br />
