Groundbreaking for the new Center was a rice event and well covered. Project is really <br /> i <br /> moving. <br /> The Tax Abatement program for the period October 1, 2003 through September 30, 2004 <br /> was approved by the selectmen. The Director will be in charge of the effort to place <br /> twenty volunteers i town departments. volunteers may earn a$500 tax abatement. <br /> Income limits were eliminated—90 to 95 hours annually are all that's required. <br /> beneficial effect of this progra.rn is that volunteers and town government employees have <br /> an opportunity to befriend each other. <br /> Great Spirit AA Group no longer meets at the Senior Center on Thursday evenings. <br /> 1 lirn.i Mullen offered a motion to approve the Director's report. Jeanne l oussee <br /> seconded the motion. Motion passed unam'mously. <br /> Outreach Coordatorls Report --Lynne Waterman reported that she made twenty <br /> home visits this past month to seniors with quite an array of medical and financial <br /> problems. <br /> Lyme said that four new volunteers were added this month. She and Judy are focusing <br /> their efforts on developing new transportation procedures in response to an increase in <br /> the number of ride requests and a decrease in the overall health of the clients requesting <br /> rides from volunteers. <br /> Also, she reported that she facilitated the MCOA outreach training m January, attended <br /> by fifty outreach coordinators—topic of training was suicide and the elderly. <br /> In addition, she met with the outreach staff of Orleans Council on Aging to review the <br /> programs she manages to determine if some or all of them could be replicated there. <br /> Mimi offered a motion to accept the Outreach Coordinator's Deport. Leila seconded the <br /> motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> NEW BUSINESS—Arthur Weinstein inquired about seniors at risk, especially during <br /> the cold weather. Lynne responded that there are 130 elders listed as fully at risk and are <br /> checked on frequently. Also, urge Baker has an automated system that can phone <br /> everybody in town in case of emergency <br /> MOTION T ADJOURN --- There being no further business, the motion to adjourn <br /> was made and seconded to encs the meeting.
