01.
The FY 2005 operating budget taking us into the new building is inadequate
in a number of areas. Mileage and energy are of major concern.
The Building Committee's Furniture Committee is meeting at least twice a
month to determine furniture specifications for the new center.
The town has contracted with an organization called Virtual Town Hall to
develop a sophisticated web site. We are participating and expect to have
the newsletter and meeting mu}.utes and agendas ava.ilable on the web and e-
mailed directly to council members who have access to e-mail. Having the
newsletter on the web would provide significant newsletter savings.
Regina Godfrey formally submitted her resignation. She is moving to York,
Maine. We thank Regina for her service:
Leila Botsford submitted her resignation based on the mistaken notion that
she must be a Mashpee resident in order to serve on the Council. She will
return to the Council but will have to be reinstated by the Selectmen.
Declining Council membership is a major concern. WHAT can we do about
it? One suggestion— a committee on the Council to establish goals. Also,
perhaps we should attend council meetings in Falmouth or Barnstable—what
process do they use?
Also discussed was the possibility of a liaison member of the board to sit on
the Senior Center Building Committee.
The Director's report was approved and seconded.
OUTREACH COORDINATOR'S REPORT --
Lynne Waterman discussed several of the home visits she made during the
month. Also, she indicated that notice had been received from Elder
Services that the grant application which had ftmded Mary Lou Holland's
position was to end on September 30, but that decision was being appealed.
Also, Lynne and Judy Genge met with the Volunteer Coordinator of the
Bourne Council on Aging to plan volunteer training in the fall.
