The Minutes of March 17, 2010 were moved and seconded.
Unanimous.
Treasurer's Report:Jim Long circulated the up-to-date expenditure report. We are
currently underspent for the last two months. The Formula Grant provides $20,000 based
on the senior population reporting of 3,050 from year 2,000. The amount of$7,000 is
extracted for energy costs. The new census of 2010 is expected to report an increase in
senior population to 4,500, which will hopefully increase our funding to approximately
$30,000.
Director's Report.Jim Long distributed his report to all members, reviewed each item,
and took questions from the Board. (See attached.)
Outreach Coordinator's Report: Lynne Waterman distributed her report to all members,
reviewed each item, and took questions from the Board. (See attached).
Volunteer Assistant Report. Lynne Waterman distributed this report to all members,
reviewed each item, and took questions from the Board. (See attached). Lynne
distributed an Article from the NYTimes on a new, long-term care insurance program, for
non-medical assistance.
Old Business: There was nothing to report.
New Business: The Town is considering a Service Center, similar to the one in Falmouth
on Gifford Street. The Board was encouraged to visit this Center in order to get a feel of
what they are doing. They offer food, clothing, and classes. One representative from
Mashpee COA is needed at that Center. Frank Kelly who recently resigned ,was that
representative. Brenda Swain is in charge, and it was suggested to invite Brenda to one of
our COA meetings. Mashpee has three food pantries in Town: Christ the King, Mashpee
Village, and the Pentacostal Church.
Jim suggested to the Committee to reduce COA meetings to quarterly status, since most
reporting is pretty standard and repetitive. Jack Dorsey, Chairman, will take this under
consideration, but he expressed that we will continue to meet every other month for now,
the next meeting being July 14, 2010, 8:30AM, in the Board Room at the Senior Center.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at LOAM. The new Library was open for viewing.
I
