s
OUTREACH COORDINATOR'S REPORT
April 2010
HOME VISITS/APPOINTMENTS
Twenty-three were made this past month, in addition to client contact by phone call.
I met with several family members inquiring about services for their loved ones with memory
loss, recovering from a stroke, heart attack, etc.
I met with several seniors experiencing financial problems,to refer them to the HOME
counseling agency and assistance programs such as food stamps, fuel assistance, etc., and to
encourage them to apply for senior housing.
I continue to work with seniors who may be driving unsafely, to discuss RHCI's driver
evaluation program, AARP's 55 alive program, etc.
The fuel assistance season ended April 30, 2010. During the past season I and our three fuel
assistance volunteers took approximately forty-five new applications, in addition to assisting
others with the recertification process.
VOLUNTEERS
I continue to meet monthly with the telefriend, SHINE, friendly visitor assistant, grief support,
birthday flower delivery, fuel assistance, and biography volunteers, to provide supervision and
assign clients.
Much of Judy Genge's and my work in April were spent planning the volunteer breakfast
scheduled for May 20, 2010.
We also met with new volunteer Kim Briggs, who agreed to work with other volunteers to
spruce up our back yard.
MEETINGS/CONTACTS
I attended the monthly meeting of the town's human services council, the Upper Cape
Consortium, and the Cape Outreach Coordinators.
Finally, Jim Long, Judy Genge, and I met with Sophia Westgate of Community Connections, to
discuss how their participants with disabilities could volunteer to assist Mashpee Seniors. We
requested yard work assistance, and Sophia was optimistic they could meet this need.
Respectfully Submitted,
Lynne Waterman
LFW/lcw
I
