t <br /> r <br /> a <br /> DIRECTORS REPORT <br /> JUNE-2010 <br /> MEETINGS <br /> The Director attended the following meetings over the past two month: Upper Cape <br /> Consortium, Cape COAs, Human Services Committee, Torr Department Head, <br /> Barnstable County Hunan Service, Upper Cape CA Directors, CAECast, Mashpee <br /> Food Pantry, CIRCA , MCOA Statewide Meeting, Hoarding Taskforce-,-, Service center <br /> Committee, etc. <br /> SERVICE CENTER COMMITTEE <br /> The Director is serving on the town's Service Center Committee to investigate the need <br /> for a town operated Service center similar to that of Falm uth. <br /> HUMAN SERVICE COMMITTEE <br /> The director was re-appointed as the vice-Chair of the town's Human gervice <br /> Committee. <br /> OPERATING BUDGET <br /> The town's 2 010 fiscal year ended on June 3 0, 2 0 10. Final reports will be available next <br /> week but early indications are that the COA will come under budget in both salaries and <br /> expenses with several thousand dollars left in the expense budget due to use ofthe <br /> formula grant for certain energy expenses. <br /> FORMULA GRANT <br /> Governor Patric continues to recommend $7.00 per senior in the 2 011 budget. However, <br /> s we enter this new fiscal year we do not have any correspondence from the state that <br /> formula, grant funds are available. I an not sure how this will perceived by the town <br /> and whether they will put a hold on any expense through the formula grant until such <br /> correspondence is available. <br /> ACADEMY riY F LIFELONG LEARNING <br /> I am advised that there will be a reduced number of classes commencing in September as <br /> the Barnstable Senior Center has welcomed ALL into their fold and marry of the tapirs <br /> have scheduled.their classes there for the upcoming semester. The ALL president <br /> promised me that there would be renewed use of our center in the January semester. <br /> COMPUTER FUTER CLASSES <br /> few classes are being offered within some limited attendance. I foresee a decline in <br /> classes and attendance as we g . In addition the person managing the classes will be <br /> moving away from Mashpee in September. <br />
