2 <br /> Corrnuty 'reservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> November 1 , 2006 <br /> Catherine Laurent—Town of Mashpee.Department of Public Works <br /> Heritage Park Exoansion Phase ff: (continued) <br /> The total cost of the.proposed project i $417,400. The Department of <br /> Public Works would oversee the project and assist with site preparations <br /> to the rough grade. Maintenance would be provided through the annual <br /> expense budget of the Department of Public Works. All fertilizers to be <br /> used on the new fields would be organic. The application also complies <br /> with storm water management practices as in Phase 1. <br /> There i's.comma ty need and support to provide playing fields for various <br /> youth and adult sports organizations. John Livingstone, M shpee Youth <br /> Soccer expressed appreciation to the Committee and townspeople for <br /> funding to support Phase I. Scott Sousa Mashpee Youth Baseball made <br /> note of the need for additional Playing fields at the Heritage Park facility. <br /> It was noted that due to the lack of playing fields over dArty games were <br /> cancelled last season. <br /> *The applicant was requested to present additional information to the <br /> Committee regarding the number of age groups that would use the <br /> additional playing fields,.the number of intended games and practices to <br /> be held to assist with the Committee's review and justification of this <br /> expenditure. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to lighting. It was noted that lighting <br /> would be considered in Phase III in conjunction with restroom facilities <br /> and field lights. The construction of additional playing feels was deemed <br /> the priority of the applicant at this time. During the interim,portable units <br /> would be used for restrooms placed at appropriate on--site locations. <br /> Nancy Cushing related concern regarding the need for a designated <br /> softball field-for the upcoming season. Phil McMann concurred. It was <br /> agreed the fields at the K.C. Coombs School could be improved by the <br /> DPW for the spring season. Ms. Laurent indicated that in Phase I,the first <br /> playing field 1 constructe l would be designated for use as a softball field. It <br /> was noted that younger children can play baseball on 'softball field,but <br /> softball players are unable to use a baseball field due to field requirements. <br />
