Grant funding from the Housing Stabilization Fund
(HSF), an award of$750,000 requires a local contribution for the release
of funds.
Senior Project Manager Gina Martinez of The Community Builders was
before the CPC Committee to request reconsideration of their funding
request to address the issue of eligibility of their proposal to recapitalize
the Mashpee village apartments.
legal memorandum was presented to the Committee from general
counsel of TCB dated August 23, 2007 relative to eligibility of the project
for use of funds under the Massachusetts Community Preservation Act,
M . Martinez indicated the TCB is grilling to reconsider their funding
request to allow for the use of Town CPA funds to leverage the state and
federal resources to preserve Mashpee's largest affordable housing
community.
It was disclosed that a smaller contribution from the Town would not
hinder the project from moving forward, but it may reduce the scope of the
intended two-phased rehabilitation prograrn.
