Community unit Preservation Commute <br /> Minutes <br /> December 9, 2008. <br /> ]avid Pocknett—Old Indian Meetinghouse Restoration Project: <br /> Mr. Pocknett met with members of the Community Preservation <br /> Committee to review the project application in the amount of$415,054 for <br /> CPA ftmding at the May 2009 Special Town Meeting to assist in the <br /> restoration of the historic Old Indian Meetinghouse. <br /> Antonia Kenny, architect ofKennan and Denny discussed workproposed <br /> in Phase II for interior work. Ms. Kenny distributed photographs of the <br /> inside of the building. In secure storage are a chandelier, historic building <br /> trim elements, flooring, plants, stairs,woodwork, pews and other related <br /> rnatenal saved for historic purposes. The interior of the facility shall <br /> consist of original materials where possible to authenticate the building. <br /> Ms. Kenny noted that there would be a balance of historical preservation <br /> while adhering to safety requirements. Modern improvements include <br /> satisfying building codes, ADA requirements, the need for increased <br /> lighting, and adding an alarm and a security system. Presently,the <br /> Meetinghouse does not have access to town water. During this interim, <br /> dry security system would be installed to protect the contents of the <br /> building. <br /> Historic Preservationist Sarah Chase assigned to assist the Tribe indicated <br /> Haat she is pleased with the progress and noted the work performed to date <br /> is particularly impressive. Ms. Chase indicated that she was quite moved <br /> to see the building in its present condition. She also stated her immediate <br /> reaction is viewing the same building,with integrity. IVIS. Chase also <br /> mentioned that she would be contacting Lee Gurney, Mashpee's Chair to <br /> the Historic District Commission to review the jab progress and project <br /> proposal. <br /> Mr.-Pocknett indicated that additional funding is being sought to assist <br /> with the $1.2 million dollar restoration project. Attorney William <br /> McDermott stated the Tribal Council is expected to receive a financial <br /> contribution from the Mousing and Urban Development(HUD) Agency, <br /> $115,000 towards the project proposal. It was noted the initial CPA grant <br /> of$325,000 and the HUD grant as anticipated are included in the $1.2 <br /> million estimation to complete the Meetinghouse restoration project. <br /> The application deemed in order contained cost estimates and schematics <br /> for the second phase of restoration. <br />
