The engineering and <br /> architect study would give a more comprehensive assessment of <br /> construction plans and specifications. When asked of the security, it was <br /> noted there is an alarm system that is monitored, and the One loom <br /> Schoolhouse is alarmed and included in the monitoring. <br /> If the project is supported by the CPA.,the Committee requested the <br /> applicant make a strong effort to employ local contractors who are <br /> Mashpee residents and/or taxpayers. In a supportive response,the DPW <br /> Director indicated that advertisement is made locally in additional to the <br /> Central pister and mu' ru'cipalities are subject to the prevailing wage and <br /> low bid requirements. <br /> i <br /> Andrew McManus—Pickerel Cove Recreation Area: <br /> Mas pee's Conservation Agent Andrew McManus was present to discuss <br /> the CPA project request to re-create a 2-acre field, improve access and <br /> establish a secondary parking area for approximately 5 cars. The project <br /> also Mncludes the establishment of a canoe/kayak launch area at Pickerel <br /> Cove on conservation land known as the Pickerel Cove Recreation Area. <br /> The CPA project request is $45,992.50. <br /> The 78.67 acre Pickerel Cove Recreation parcel was previously referenced <br /> as Camp Vinhaven or the St. Vincent's parcel. It was purchased by the <br /> Town by a vote of Town Meeting ire May of 2008. The CPA contributed <br /> $500,000 to ards the purchase intended for open space, conservation and <br /> passive recreation purposes. The voters successfully passed the debt <br /> exclusion ballot question for the purchase, and additional funding was <br /> obtained from Division of Fisheries and wildlife subject to a Conservation <br /> Restriction/Easement on the entire property. <br /> 5 <br />
