The Commission had discovered
' permits had not been obtained for the structure; it was removed early Sumner of this
past year. 1t was suggested the owner look at two options, a longer structure or
a dinghy dock; they are proposing a longer structure, The dock will traverse the
salt marsh which is colored in green on the plan, his is a coastal bank and coastal
flood zone and land under the ocean. Also, it is a very productive shellfish area.
They are attempting to correct a situation by getting the structure -out into deeper
Water.
t spring low tide there w:L be only 6 inches of water. fio reach deeper water
would be a hazard to navigation. This would be a Board of Appeals issue also.
The total structure is 102 feet; other permits would be needed from town boards.
The pier is 84 x 4, 320 s.f. which will shade the salt rmorsh and land under the
4
ocean. It is five feet above the salt marsh vegetation. The decking will have
half inch spacing. The previous structure was only 1 - 18 inches above marsh
vegetation. The float is 12 x 8, 96 s.f. ; the ramp is 16 x 4, 64 s.f. The
linear footage is 102 feet,
Mr. York stated this is a prime shellfish area with good sediment type and water
flog. It is an area of quahogs and soft shell. clams. The float rests on the
bottom. If the pier is rebuilt', it should be moved out.
