Conservation Commission
April. 23, 1992
Page 2.
The dune was lowered by the storm. A half dozen footings of the deck were lost
and it is unsafe. They will replace thea with sono tube footings. They will re-
nourish the dune with compatible material; the same material as used in Sandy Beach.
They will plant with grass and put the fence back up with wooden posts not steel,
as they hold up longer.
Mr. Sherman had no problem with them picking up the fence that is broken up along
the dunes.
i
Mks. Fud.ala asked if the Commission will see a sample of the sieve analysis; she
would like to see it. Mr. Zeppenfeld agreed to provide it to the Commission,
He described the method for the Commission.
Mr. Sherman stated stamps should be provided on the plan. A site plan requires
both stamps according to the state. A Registered Land Surveyor's stamp testifies
i
that everything is where it belongs.
Mr. Zeppenfeld stated they are only putting sand on the dunes which has nothing
to do with property limes.
Mr. Desrosiers stated he would be more conorned with a house lot to be sure
there is no encroac ment. This is all owned by the same persons and is not
disturbance to any abutters.
The consensus was that a stamped plan be provided to the Commission.
Mr. Zeppenfeld stated the stairs at the beach club are a danger. Digging will
be by hand. He agreed they would provide a PE stamp on the plan. This was
acceptable to the board. It was noted the sono tube work will be dome by hand.
Mr. Sherman-asked how the extent of the dune was determined? It will be within
two feet of where it was.
Mr, Zeppenfeld stated it will be necessary to use heavy equipment for placement
of the dune material; they will use a track machine. Dump trucks are rubber
tired and access will be from Sandy Beach parking lot. Whey would like to plane
the sand at the deck footings to stabilize the deck and the dune material when
they do the beach nourishment in the fall. They will plant with Beach Grass.
Public coments were requested; there were none.
Mr. Sherman stated this can be conditioned in perpetuity, with notice to the
agent at that time.
i
M: Motion made and seconded to close the hearing subject to the receipt of
plans with an engineer's s stamp.
8 IM.
i -
7:15 Joh Sulldvan, 47 Redwood Circle continued from February 27, 19924P
Kathy Sullivan presented certified mail receipts dor endangered Species and
DEP,
Mr. Sherman suggested closing the hearing upon an on-site by him. He suggested
some plantings where the hayb le lime is. Mrs. Sullivan agreed. The Commission
will condition monitoring for one year; this also was agreeable to Mrs. Sullivan.
She stated she would not be in disagreement if additional plantings were required.
