Conservation Commission
August 2 , 1990
Page 12.
of trauma and worry which is the reason for the behavior you see before you tonight.
'burning now to the essence of our presentation, and the broader issue defining the
activities in this case in our case an anonymous complaint was made that we had
placed sand on our beach. Who was the anonymous complainer I asked Mr. Sherman
and he refuses to tell me.
I would like to interject that counsel informs me that we are not obligated
to give that information and to tell the honest truth, sir, I do not know the name
of the person.
MR. GLASS: That's right, you don t t; it might have been one of the selectmen, who
spits on us regularly, for our activities in defending the rights of native americans,
or it might have been an abutter, I am going to supply you with these documents
because I am going to end up with a request, who completely devastated an abutting
piece of pond frontage 12 feet wide by 150 feet long and admitted that he did it to
improve, with the encouragement of others, his and his customer's view of the pond
from a quarter of a mile away; this relates to our pond. We offered the offender
n opportunity to repair the damages which he declined, In that situation we
engaged a well-known environmental attorney, Marcel Kistin, and an environmental
engineer, Paul Lolito, to investigate. We then submitted the report to the Mashpee
Conservation coordssion which took no action on the matter. Instead, we were advised
by a town official, Mr, Buckingham, that he would reco end cutting down all of the
pond foliage if we continued to complain. This refers to an anonymous complainer
perhaps. We .did not pursue the matter further due to Mrs. Glass's falling victim
to a life-threatening health disorder, which is why she formed a national foundation
that you would have hoard about in our biography. I have shown photographs to
members of this committee showi
