Conservation Commission
September 6, 19
Page 3.
Mr. Coffey asked how depths were established in the vicinity?
Mr. Sanicki advised by survey methods; they did soundings. Everything is shown on
Mean Sea bevel,
Mr. Coffey asked if the angle chosen for the installation of the walkway was to
discourage use on the northerly side's Mr. Sanicki stated no, they came in parallel
to the float, parallel to the contours beneath the water, giving equal water depth
t the outward end of the float. If the facility was used perpendicular, over a
period of time, it would ease washing. This way there is a standard depth across
the end of the float.
Mr. Coffey asked the number of people who will access the dock's
Andrea Barone, president of the association, gave a list of the members who have
contributed to the dock. The land is owned by SCCA who took a poli which was
favorable to the dock being built. In ber neighborhood there are 25 families
involved.
Ms Beta-man asked if potentially, in the future, everyone belonging to the assoc-
iation who had a boat could use the dock and was told they could, if an association
member.
The vice-president of the association stated when the vote was taken there were 150
members; 145 were in favor with 5 dissenters. The dock Will be owned by the assoc-
iation.
Ms BEhnnan asked if the presence of the conmului ty dock would mean that waterfront
property owners in the area could not build their own docks?
Rita Margaret Zantos, treasurer of the dock fund stated she knocked on doors of
waterfront property, specifically in the Quail Follow area, to advise ghat they
were doing; no one objected.
Mr. Sanicki advised there are association members who do own waterfront property,
some with a private facility; others that don't have the privilege to apply for
said private facility. This facility will service more the panties that are inland
and do not have waterfront frontage.
Mr. Coffey asked if everyone who is an association member, with membership predicated
on land in that neighborhood and paying annual cues, will have rights to use this
dock? He was told there are 150 families. He stated, at hison-site today, he
counted 23 dinghies; only 3 on the sand, the other 2 (400 sq. ft. of coverage)
were on grass of one sort or another, if a great turnout from a large association,
how many d.nghines can be anticipated; scattered where in the vicinity? What kind
of use will the dock get? Has a launch-shuttle arrangement been considered?
Mr. Sanicki stated, keeping in mind the expense to the association, everyone with
a private boat has the responsibility to get to thein boat. The association,
once they have this facility, does not encourage a lot of dinghies at the shore
li
