MASHPEE CONSERVATION COMaSSION <br /> MEETIM OF OCTOBER 4 1990 <br /> commissioners Present: Patrick Coffey, Gertrude Simmons, Louise Behrman, <br /> Duncan York, Darold Desrosiers, Susana Iznik. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. <br /> 7:15 CRAMBM, 118 Old Brickyard road, Continued hearing, <br /> Mr. Sherman advised the requested information was received. A letter was read <br /> into the record stating the type of fertilizer to be used (Turf-organi C . <br /> CLOSED - ORDER of CONDITIONS IN 21 DAYS. <br /> 7:16 LWYD GAJMBORO, Dave Tavares of PGM Landscapes presenting. <br /> Mr. Sherman ream the comments from D.E.P, asking if a small wall. is a coastal <br /> engineering structure per 310 CMR 10.33. A call was placed to D.E.D. who advised <br /> this decision was up to the Commission; Mr. Sherman did not feel the wall is one. <br /> letter was read into the record from FGM Landscapes re the construction of the <br /> wall. <br /> Mr. Sherman suggested the statement should be rade that the Commission does not <br /> consider it to be an eroding bank. He asked if the wall will be one u .it, six <br /> inches high and was told it will. He felt that should be added to the letter. <br /> HFZRM CI. SED - ORDER of CONDITIONS 21 DAYS. <br /> 7:30 GERTRUDE W, SIMMONS, for a Determination of Applicability for the construction <br /> of a canoe rack; maintenance of natural landscaping; on-going improvement of bank <br /> stability with the planting of vege to t ion and use of bark and wood chips for top- <br /> dressing but not on the coastal bank at 126 Sunnersea Road. Gertrude Simmons stood <br /> down. John Ferriday presenting. There is an existing stair down to a beach, then <br /> into marsh grass and water. They propose to build a canoe rack consisting of. two <br /> toteres, + ft, high, 1--1 ft. circumference, 8 ft. apart. The other items are for <br /> housekeeping purposes. <br /> The bank needs maintenance to keep the house secure; indigenous plants need to be <br /> replaced. <br /> Mr. Coffey asked, if the canoe supports would shade existing vegetation? <br /> Mr. -Ferriday stated logs l ft. in diameter, 4 ft. high with rails of 6 inch boards <br /> would, not create excessive shading; there will be one canoe 4-1/2 feet above the <br /> ground. <br /> Mr. Sherman stated, with the sun moving down the slope, he dick not feel shaming <br /> was a problem, <br /> Mr. Coffey asked if the scope of maintenance and on-going improvement went back <br /> to an original RDA? <br /> Nor. 'errid' y -a wised originally they asked to build the Japanese garden and re- <br /> place the wooden step. They were either too specific and eliminated some things <br /> or too general and did not include some things. Asked if the RDA lists the types <br /> of plantings, Mr. Ferriday stated it did. <br /> Ir.. Coffey asked if excavation in the bark will be necessary for planting and was <br /> told no plants will be larger than those obtained from the Cape Cod Soil Conserv- <br /> tion Service. <br />
