MASHPEE CONSERVATION C MMIS 11 <br /> MEETING of FEBRUARY 22� 1990 <br /> Co issioners present: Gertrude W. Simmons, V. Louise Behrman� Richard Halpern, <br /> Patrick Coffey, Harry Be rosiers, Joseph Burns. <br /> Robert Sherman, Conservation Agent, and Elizabeth Terry, Associate Member, were <br /> present also. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 79.10 p.Ml* <br /> The Commission was advised Burton Kaplan had called to withdraw his application <br /> stating there were more qualified applicants and he is considering other town <br /> boards. A letter is to follow. <br /> 7:15 RAYMOND C. GUILLME, JR. - Interview: Mr. Gnillette advised he is a. small <br /> business owner and teaches college part-time. <br /> Concerning problems unique to Mashpee, he stated the development; the cape in general <br /> and Mashpee were caught "off guard". He is a fresh water fisherman. There are many <br /> areas to be protected and preserved. <br /> To make the public more aware of the efforts to protect the environ e t by the <br /> Commission, Mr. Guillette referred to the clean up of the Mashpee River as the <br /> kind of event that would help and also programs in the schools. <br /> Mr. Guillette stated his time is flexible; he would be willing during the day <br /> to do on-sites, or research, if selected. He expressed interest in associate <br /> membership, if not full, or as a. consultant. <br /> Concerning priorities during the next two years, he cited the "Save our Ponds <br /> Program" and educating the public. <br /> Asked if a. choice between the environment and development where he would stand, <br /> Mr. Guillette stated , with development in general, if the area has value, there <br /> are different guidelines and different ground rules. He stated he would do the <br /> right thing for the environment; people on the development end should realize and <br /> understand this. <br /> Mr, Guillette apologized for the controversy connected with his name and expressed <br /> hope that the Selectmen will support the Cossion's choice. He would like to <br /> serve the town, on any board, in any capacity. <br /> Mrs. Simmons stated there are subcommittees with vacancies also. He asked to be <br /> considered and given a call. <br /> 7:30 NEW SEABURY LIMITED PARTNERSHIP, Sand fence and walkover, continued from <br /> January 11, 1990. Brian Zeppenfeld presented details of the walkovers and. <br /> profiles.. die also presented letter re South. Cape Beach erosion which was ray <br /> into the record. <br /> Mrs. Simmons stated this is a trespass problem, the police should be called. <br /> He advised they were. It was noted under town bylaw no vehicles are allowed <br /> on the beach. <br />
