Conservation Commission
March , 1990
Page 3.
of the water. An Environmental study was done by Bill Richardson who was intro-
duced to the Commission* He advised he categorized the vegetative comity on
site wing vegetation that exists and that proposed. A reduction of the forest
by 10% would not be good for the gray squirrel. However, as the trees age the
suitability will come back for indigenous wild life. vista pruning should not
occur on this site as it would cause a decline' in the Black-capped chickadee
and Downy Woodpecker species.
Mr. Coffey asked if there is a loss from clearing already taken out.
Mr. Richardson stated placing the stairway over the existing stairway there i
no loss of vegetation.
Mrs. Simmons asked if the coverage from the deck will effect the spawning areas
in the water itself.
Mr. Richardson did not see shadowing as a problem; in this instance providing
nesting habitat for small mouth bass. He also felt the "T" arrangement was
far ahead of any others.
Concerning the depth of the water, the Commission was told it i --1/2 ft.
The revised plan shows the dock to be seasonal.
Mr. Sherman advised people he has talked with at State Fish & Wildlife and
Federal Fish & Wildlifefeel this type of analysis is designed for larger
tracts and not relevent for small parcels. In choosing the indicative species,
it should certify the species that exist on the property. There are some num-
erical errors. He stated the Commission should have more time to look it over.
This report, at this time, does not provide the type of information that should
be in a wildlife habitat evaluation as put fort. by DEP Program Policies.
Mr. Hall advised he will be at the site tomorrow with a person from DEP.
There were no comments from the 'public.
CCITICM To APRIL 19, 1990 - :15 P.M.
HIS WOOD ITER . ,
Daniel's Island Road - Water Ma.n.
CONTINUED TO APRIL 5. 1990 - 9:00 P.M. AT THE REQUEST of THE APPLICANT.
8:15 KENNETH PAR LSKI, 351 M nom oscoy Road, Continued from January 25.
Mr. & Mrs. Parolski presenting.
Mr. Sherman advised, although Mr. Parolsi was told he could file an RDA,
information received of late from DEP requires this to be filed as a Notice
of Intent. He suggested for a Notice of Intent the Commission waive the
Town fees under the Town bylaw and ware the town portion of the state fees.
The information provided could be incorporated into a Notice of Intent. The
project can be conditioned the night of the hearing. There would not be
problem with the rebuilding of the dock; the dredging could not be done.
Mr. Parol.ski agreed with Mr. Shermani s suggestions. The Request for Deter-
mination of Applicability to be Withdrawn Without Prejudice,
