t <br /> MASHPEE C N E VATI ON COMM ISSI ON <br /> I <br /> Meeting June 14 , 1990 <br /> Commissioners Present: V, Louise Behrman, Chairman Pro Tem, Duncan York, <br /> Harry Desrosiers, Richard Halpern, Patrick Coffey. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. <br /> MARGARET & LEONARD PECK: Mr. Sherman gave the background : Mrs. Peck had called <br /> concerning placing a gazebo on the prop brty. While on the site,, he noticed <br /> some oaks and brush had been cut on the coastal bank a-nd advised this would <br /> reed to be addressed. Mrs. Peck has submitted her solution. <br /> Mrs. Peck advised they have a jungle situation there, Nothing was uprooted, <br /> only cut down and removed from the property. Mr. Sherman agreed to absolve <br /> the Notice of Intent in lieu of a plan. <br /> The plan wa-s reviewed. <br /> Mr. Sherman advised he approved of the species selected and spacing proposed. <br /> He would like to lock at the site once more before approving the plan. He <br /> asked if th ! Commission felt the plan was adequate. <br /> Mrs, Peck asked, i n a situEtior like theirs, wh .re things are soon overgrown, <br /> if they were forbidden from continuing to cut things down' <br /> Ms Behrman suggested she should call the agent before any work in the resource <br /> area and perhaps file an RDA. Mrs. Peck asked if that included simple pruning <br /> and was told it does. <br /> VOTE: Motion made and seccnded to accept the plan as presented, subject to <br /> the agent's ori-site inspection. <br /> CONTINENTAL ABLEVISI : Frank Lahey, District Project Coordinator, cane before <br /> the commission re the need to trench in the Pond Circle area. <br /> There was discussion of the disturbance created in that area by Colonial Gas <br /> which was under a Notice of Intent. Continental will be mooring their trench <br /> to the other side and the disturbance will be less. The filing of an RDA <br /> was discussed and the tiring of same. It was noted their wcrk crews will be <br /> leaving the area, in two weeks. <br /> Ms Behrman was concerned with setting a precedent. <br /> Mr. Coffey suggested on-site supervision to e p d i to th - matter or a performance <br /> bond/letter of credit. He felt h ' could gc with ars RDA and a negative finding. <br /> Mr. Lahey stated he would have the area restored and ready for Hydroseed the <br /> next day. <br /> Ms. Behrman stated she was uneasy with cork s i stency and the setting of precedent <br /> or other prciects, <br /> Mr, Lahey stated they kr ow what is ccming up and what to do; with this ore it <br /> would be holding up so many people. They have a problem with their contractors <br /> pullinc out. <br /> Ms Behrman stated th - Commission is c rcer red with thy{ Wetland Protection <br /> Act. <br />
