Studley, Chairperson. .
Appearing for Huckabee ana Kelleher was Bob Eldridge, who ex-
plained that this was a pretty standard application as far as building
a pier goes. Very conventional in construction standards - 481 by the
mean high water and then a float attached. He was asked when the
stairway was put in and he said he didn't know.
Mrs.. loane questioned the length, saying she thought it was- '
arfully long. Mr. Eldridge said the length is dictated by thesound-
ings - for the boats to reach the dock at low tide, the only alter-
native is to dredge. The soundings are minus 31 from mean low wator
at the end. He was asked, from the land to the low 'watRr mark,. how
far you have to 'go before you reach water. "You're as) rig for-60 feet,
right?") A subdivision reap was brought out and it was rted that there
were no steps there in the beginning and are there lmpror .y and i1- .
legally. +
Mrs. Studley said wblre not licensing the existing steps and
whether they should be taken out or not. There .is a conservation
easement which says you shall not disturb that bank without approv-
al of the Conservation Commission. This petition has nothing to do
with the steps, just with the dock. ; It was asked how the peop1e ex-
pect to got to the dock and Mr. Eldridge replied that they are going
to be using the steps, fir. Buckingham said., "Not if the steps are
taken out." Mr. Eldridge replied that they would build a. bridge across
to the deck. He was told that nothing should be built upon that area,
No steps, no nothing. fir. Buckingham said that it is a very fragile
area and he has seen ghat happens when people walk through - he sees
the whole thing begin to disintegrate.
.;
It was asked who built the steps and why. Petitioners put them in.
481 absolute minim. um
for the pier itself From mean high water to the
end of the pier. Approximately 3' of water at law water. Less than''
1 at the dock. About 31 at the deepest portion. 'h float is beyond
the pier another 16, making 641 .)
It was asked how-many boats they have. Three boats on the appli-
cation - it doesn't say how large the beats are. 61 X lo, float. Mrs.
Studer inquired if there were a ,y more questions
Mr. .Buckingham wanted to know how they provide access to that pier*
without going down the bank, without using the steps. Formally they
would use the steps - if steps removed, 'new steps would have to be put
0
%V% D..4 .4 r.rrf .-.L......... .1 . l --- --- fit- i# a _ •
