that according to what he gets from DE , in areas where they have all red tires
to be buried, in a disposal area they have insisted that a tare be filled with
cement to anchor Ilt. He also said that no matter how it is buried, the sand
buoys the tire up; that even though they're tied together, tires should be
filled with cement. Mrs. Stud]-ey said that there is a big difference between
tires at a dump and at a beach or golf course.
Mr. Kuebler further said that after they did this and got the sand on
the tires, they would try to nourish it by planting grass and so forth. They
should be tied together and re-enforced - they don't want to have to go roam-
ing around the beach picking up tires - they want to keep thea there.
Mr. Buckingham said that Guy Tedesco f s hose was hanging over the edge of
the tank - he should bring those hoses out to low water and discharge direct.
Mr. Kuebler# paid $12.00 for the legal advertisements in the Falmouth rater-
prise.
Getting hack to the Messrs. Woodbury and Miles, Mr. Woodbury showed a.
sketch that 114r. Cook laid out. Mrs. Studley asked if it were true that Thr.
Cook said he can't do it until the fall, Mr. Woodbury said he had put a dead--
line on him of May 1st, adding that they have tenants moving ing n and ho eoimers
and so forth. He said he could be through by June 15th if he gets the okay
from Conservation, Mrs. Studley asked the Commissioners their feelings n
this and asked if they want to let it go through under the emergency provisions
f the Act - a motion was rade and seconded, agreeing to the permission, Mrs.
Studley said she would send out a letter to Curtis M. and Barba.ra. E. Wo dbur
Box 368., Mashpee.
Mr. viles also had pictures. He explained that he has a rip-rap wall that
has a lot of voids underneath it. He further said that the toe stones are just
sitting on the sand and as a result, quite to bit of collapsing of the wall. Mr.
Toodbur 's house is on Mr. Viler' right looking at the water. He showed the
Commission the crank in the WallIS,, a.s well as stone that had fallen through. '
.awn slipped away from the house and went underneath - there are caves under-
neath there now - the toe stone went down last year. He pointed out a bad
breakup on the wall of the base - it had all been cemented at high tide and
maybe 301 or so without water hitting the wall. As you go looking at the ocean
o the left, you come over to the state property and the last jetty of the beach.
Mrs. Studley asked what it is that he is planning on doing. Mr. Viles said.
that 1 .r i s h came down and recommended that he work from the top with a crane
and pumpers and cement and, do it in sections so that the wall doesn't collapse.
Lift out, the toe stones, then go down 4 or ' withre-enforced concrete and set
the toe stones into the wall to the mean low tide (the base of that waif - then
go up 4 or 5' with cement and rip-rap so it would actually be rebuilding the
wall with a concrete base. He said he had Fred Williams dawn there to see about
making the walk. stronger - didn't know how much cement it would take. lie was
given an estimate of $1200 a day and didn't know how manor days it would take
He had Williams down again and he cane up with a different philosophy - one
should leave wails open now. Mr. Viles said he would lose all of his soil.
He also said that they have this Mastic stuff that lets grater~ through, but
no soil is lost - but not in his case.
. Buckingham wondered, if Mr. Viles gent through this is 'it all going
to happen again in another 5 or 10 years? Mr. vires said he can'tafford it
adding that Peter Cook thinks he should rebuild. Mrs. LSitudley said that the
Commission would have to kn q ghat Mr. Niles wants to do before ore it can Rive him
