f
u
E
Y.: the application in for the loan - he can only get money for repairs -- he would
*r have to put a lot of money himself into it - he's going to make a phone call
i when he l e ave s here this evening. He further the said that he has someone lse
who is essentially a cement -man and he was the first one down there and he has
yet to give him a figure.
}
Mrs. Studley suggested that Mr. viles send the Comission a letter with
a plan and he said he would call Mrs. Studley when he knows ghat he 's going
to do. Mr. Viles asked hoer detailed a plan the Commission needs and Mrs.
Sloane said "very". t should be a full drawing like Mr. Woodbury's. show-
ing dimensions ions - height, length, etc,
Getting down to regular business, Mm's. Studley said that there is $ip6e4o
in the secretary's wage account, expressing concern about its lasting g throe h
+ the end of Jure and X1373.77 in the expense account which we t re going t
spend! She said there was a meeting with Dr. Kerfoot about a pilot study fox~
lake management for John' Pond and he has sent her a quotation which comes to
$1440-00. We don't have quite that much money and she asked the Board of
Selectmen whether or not they approved - they approved of the idea, but said
the Commission would have to look somewhere for funds - we could use this
year I s and part of next year I s. Mrs. Studley asked Mr. Buckingham a f he had
heard from the Association for Preservation about the lake management. .
Buckingham said "no". Mrs. Studley said that until we find out whether or
not they're going to recommend .it, she doesn't want anyone to say "let's go
ahead". It may be something we can get funded by state and federal. The
Conservation Or
Officer's salary would be the to , r s share of this particular
project.
Mr. Buckingham said he follo red it up as far as CCPEDC went. A fell okl
by the name of Mr. 1acMhon, who's part of the DEQE concerned with this 314
section, and then there are two others that he urate to, t1ling thea our de--
sires and asking thea to get in touch with him - no answer yet. Mrs. Studley
said there is no hurry to spend this money and we would have t quo-
tation
the qu
tation to come in in two separate c uota.tions to pay for it. The only way we
could do it is to pay a good part this year and have him send an invoice
saying part of it would come out of next year's expenses. She also said she
talked to the Finance Committee and 'asked for the budget for next year and
they didn't seem, inclined to give the Commission more, If there is an in-
IL crease in the secretary's wages., they would put in an article to raise and
appropriate for the secretary.
m
Mrs. Sloane asked if this isn't sort of Board of Health, too. Mr. Buck"
Ingham said the trouble with coring through the Board of Health is that he
can't justify certain phases of it. He also said that he doesn't have anyone
with enough salary to qualify for in-grant. He said that the Board of Health
is moving slightly away from the ideas of septic difficulties. He said he
has to go looking n another direction with the program corrftng in - he'll
be in position of dredging out Mud Hole,, Mrs. Studley said that .it's not
stricter to determine- septic systems - it's to restore the pond. Mr. Buck-
ingham said that he's already carrying pretty cls to 000 on that pond.
Mrs. Studley said to leave it in limbo until the next meeting. Mr. Bucking-
ham said that there iso physical building that will come in with this so
we can't meet with that objection,
Mrs. Studley said she had a report Brom Alfred Falconieri who is con-
ducting the grind turban experiment on waquoit Bay.
