Barbara Sloane was absent. Also i <br /> attendance were: Francis H Landy.9 Christe Kondochriste., Helen Iondochriste. <br /> Virginia T. andryy Chester Brown, Richard Towne, Anthony Petruzzi, -John Mcg <br /> Donald, John Downey, .roan Eastman, Carmine Simone, Robert Courtemanche., Frank-- <br /> E. Hicks,, Nancy Blakeman Donald Blake�aa.nv Curtis Toodbury, Barbara Woodbury and <br /> Timothy Hannigan. <br /> Mrs. -DeLory read aloud the following: "P blicIea ..ng Notice , Acting under <br /> the provisions of G. L. Chapter 131s Section 40-and Chapter III, Article III o <br /> the Town Conservation Bylaw, a Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, December <br /> , 1978 at 7:30 PoMe at Mashpee Town Hall., Great Neck Road on the Notice of In <br /> tentfiled. by The Tawn of Mashpee to replace material 'inkind', removed in the <br /> storm of February 1978 at Barrier Beach, Mashpee,, Mass.-; in accordance with plans <br /> on file with the Conservation Commissions Mashpee Torn Hall.11 <br /> It was stated that Kevin O'Connell has the pictures of the spit taken after <br /> the storm* Mrs* DeLory said that she was waiting for Tim Hennigan to arrive- to _ <br /> make his presentation. Mrs. DeLory said that she will take this to a lawyer and <br /> have it- steed out. Mir. Blakeman wanted to know if this would be alone before the <br /> erid of the ye ar and Mrs. 'DeLory said +yes she will'make a phone call tomorrow <br /> morning to Marcel Kistn. <br /> Mr. Kondochriste wanted to know how-we came up with the name "Barrier Beach" <br /> and Mrs. DeLory said that legally this is the way it was presented on the notice <br /> of Intent. Mrs. DeLory showed the locus reap. Mr. Brown noted that one side is in <br /> by Cotuit and warted to know if Cotuit is involved in this at all or is it all <br /> Mashpee. Cotuit is not involved. In answer* to a question.. firs. DeLory said that <br /> it wasn't submitted as dredging. She also added that Mr. H nnigan is not going <br /> to be here and Air. Hicks wil1 present whatever he can. <br /> Mr. Hicks said that the Town filed a Notice of Intent with DEQE to replace <br /> the material in kind on the Barrier Beach, the so� called Spit, and it has filed <br /> petition under the Wetlands Protection Act with DEQE and also with our Conservadw <br /> tion Commission op all materials to be used wbe compatible � the materials <br /> that have washed off Barrier Beach and washed off the soawailed charnel and be" <br /> gond the basin, we hope to replace with in kind materials. He further said that <br /> the Town has also filed an application with the Fede ai Disaster Assistance Ado- <br /> ministration and, between the two of them, we hope we will be funded- to have this <br /> work dome. Be also said that the Town feels that there will be no adverse effects <br /> on the she fish or finfish � it should be beneficial.. He said that what we want <br /> to do is probably ask to have this hearing postponed or continued to a later date, <br /> Pending the study that will be made by the DFQE and, based on their reports we <br /> would probably be revering our petition. <br /> Mrs. DeLory said that representatives -of DEQE were in town today and they ad- <br /> vised a postponement because they want an, environmental iVact study on it � it is <br /> required. The Town has notified about- eight different conies that do this type <br />
