Studley left <br /> meeting at :45 p.m. ) , vice Chairman Pauline F. DeLory, Stuart <br /> Peoples and B. jean Thomas., <br /> Chairman Studley convened the meeting at 7:40 p.m. . <br /> ti <br /> Discussion of Helico ter Pad -- Bayview Condominiums <br /> George Benway met with the Commission to advise therm that he would <br /> be subm i tt irig formal .appIi c a.t ion-., for the proposed helicopter pad <br /> which they would like to construct on the cranberry bog at the Bay- <br /> view Condominiums. Previous discussion of this helicopter pad was <br /> held at the Commission' s meeting of September 14, 1983 . <br /> Mr. Benway said that the intent was to use the helicopter for emer- <br /> gency use and not for commuting purposes. The access to the pad <br /> would be built like a dike similar to that of a wooden pier. The <br /> pad itself would be built of sand and gravel and the sides would .be <br /> ties. There would be no parking of air craft. <br /> Jean Thomas asked if there was any other place other than the bog <br /> to construct the helicopter pad Fir. Benway told the Commission <br /> that there is upland; however, a large amount of trees would have <br /> to be cleared if they were to choose another location. He said <br /> that he called the Bedford FAA and they said that 200 feet would <br /> have to be cleared. <br /> } <br /> Chairman Studley asked what he considered emergency use? lir. Benway <br /> said that a heart attack victim, somebody who had fallen down stairs <br /> r someone with emphysema would be emergency use. <br /> Jean Thomas asked how he planned to get the sand 'and gravel in? Mr. <br /> Benway replied "with a bucket" . <br /> Pauline DeLory asked if it would be accessible to other people in <br /> other developments ." Mr.. Benway said that it would not be restrictive. <br /> i <br /> Chairman Studley asked about the zoning regulations? Nir. Benway said <br /> that there is no zoning applicable as there is no provision. He <br /> said that he did not consider it to be a► structure, <br /> Jean Thomas suggested that a► question be posed to town counsel as she <br /> felt it gill be a structure. <br /> Discussion was made with reference to the. size of the bog which is ap- <br /> proximately 6.9 acres according to Mr. Benway. He said that it would <br /> 1 not interfere with water flow or run-off or natural ditches. <br /> Pauline DeLory asked why he couldn't use the tennis court area. Mr. <br /> i Benway said that the net would be up and that the helicopter people <br /> thought the best place would be in the bog. <br /> Reference was made to the Falmouth Hospital helicopter landing area and <br /> .the amount of area cleaned. <br /> J <br />
