a <br /> CONSERVATION COMMISSION <br /> MHFE TOWN HALL <br /> MEETING OF JANUARY 25, 1984 <br /> All Board members were present for tonight' s meeting* The meeting convened <br /> at 7:30 p.m. <br /> Gene Narr of the Cranberry Bog Management Committee net with the Board <br /> to <br /> discuss *:'articl s. .. , which his committee submitted to the Selectmen for the <br /> Special Town Meeting warrant. He outlined the breakdown of what the casts <br /> would be to operate the public beach area at John's pond on weekends and <br /> holidays: during the entire summer months and what signs and the date would <br /> be, as follows : Weekends and Holidays $6,404; Daily $10, 684; Signs <br /> Gate Costs - $600. Gene also discussed the submission of an article t <br /> operate the beach area for the two weeks prior to July at a cost of $1 , 256. <br /> A letter from the Executive Secretary was reviewed by the Board stating that <br /> the articles were not accepted for inclusion in the warrant for the Special <br /> Town Meeting in February. Concerns of the Selectmen were that the articles <br /> were submitted from the John' s Pond Park Ianagement Committee of which they <br /> had no knowledge of their being such a committee. The Selectmen requested <br /> a joint meeting with the Conservation Commission and Cranberry Bog Manage- <br /> ment Committee on Wednesday, February 8, at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the articles. <br /> Discussion was made on the fact that any articles which were to be submitted <br /> for inclusion on the Annual Town Meeting warrant had to be received by <br /> Selectmen no later than February 6. <br /> Gene Harr said that he would be meeting with the Taxpayers Association and <br /> th'e Finance Committee to give an explanation of ghat the articles were for. <br /> Jean Thomas suggested that he do an overlay for the town meeting presentation <br /> so that it could be put on the screen, In that way, it would be helpful to <br /> the voters. <br /> Discussion was made on who controls the water level, of the Pond. Gene was <br /> advised to check with the Superintendent of Streets as keys were turned over <br /> to him. Gene commented that the intake area was completely filled with sand <br /> and that dredging would have to be done. Advice will be sought from the <br /> Cranberry Sub-Committee* <br /> Gene mentioned that the Federal Covernment was putting in test wells in the <br /> rirod and Hindley Complex area and in the Hoopole Road area.
