I <br /> violations. The state agencies(1\40D, the Inspector General, RMV and the State Police) are <br /> increasing enforcement efforts and are encouraging towns to join in the initiative. According t <br /> M.G.L. Chapter 90, Section 2 misuse of a placard may result in a $500 fine for a first offense and <br /> $1000 for a second or subsequent offense. License suspension is also possible. Bob provided <br /> copies of the correspondence to Chief Collins and the Town Clerk. Bob asked Carol Sherman to <br /> make the Selectmen aware of the notice. She said she would also ask the town manager how to <br /> handle the communication of this information to the public. Bob said Chief Collins has been very <br /> supportive of efforts to enforce handicapped parking�regulation ; however, manpower is always <br /> a limitation. The volunteer parking patrol that Mert organized to assist the enforcement is now <br /> defunct. The next step's to see if the town manager, Board of Selectmen and Chief Collins are <br /> supportive of the initiative. Carol said she would put in on the agenda for the next BOS meeting. <br /> Discuss Mashpee Commons plans for a new building and housing expansion. <br /> Chairman Wooldridge stated he has been communicating with Ma pee Commons regarding the <br /> plans for the new building that will be behind Talbots and associated handicapped parking. He <br /> received an email from the Commons indicating the plan that was submitted to the Building <br /> Dept. does not show the crosswalks at the Market Street and Fountain Street intersection but they <br /> ill be there. There will be curb cut,, ramps and designated crosswalks on all four corners of the <br /> intersection.' They are dealing with the design team to see if h.avingtwo parldng spaces will <br /> work. Bob said handicapped spaces must be located as close as possible to the accessible <br /> entrance. Charlie said both ADA and.AAB and. addresseO that issue. The Commons' management <br /> argues that they have the required number of handicapped spaces for the total number of spaces <br /> at the Commons. Locations of handicapped spaces do not take location relative to accessible <br /> entrances into consideration. The committee should keep a line of communication open with <br /> then. <br /> Discuss questionnaires for business' self-evaluation of accessibility, <br /> Carol Sherman noted Mary Lou Palumbo, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, was <br /> going to attend today's meeting but she had another commitment_ Bob Wooldridge referred to <br /> sample questionnaires rating business' accessibility and gage thein to Carol to give to Mary Lou <br /> for her information and possible use. <br /> Update on; Big Fix Mashpee: <br /> Bob reported the Big Fix was very successful and they had approximately Soo volunteers and <br /> everyone did a great +J b. He thanked Nfichel a for volunteering_ <br /> Discuss Town Meeting approval of boat ramp upgrades. <br /> Chairman Wooldridge spoke on the town meeting article seeking approval to use CPC funds to <br /> upgrade the boat ramp and parking lot at Great River. The article sought funds to upgrade the <br /> ramp, including handicapped accessibility, and the parking lot. Carol Sherman said the <br /> selectmen didn't endorse it at this time because the selectmen felt to spend $450,000 for the <br />
