r.: <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of the Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee, <br /> September 1 , Zoo <br /> The Mashpee Americans with Disabilities Act Committee met Thursday, September 14, <br /> 2006 at Mashpee Town Mall Meeting Room 2. <br /> Members in attendance: <br /> William I undon(co-chair <br /> Ira Brown <br /> Marilyn Farren <br /> Charles Maintains <br /> Patricia I arols i <br /> Merton Sapers <br /> Robert Wooldridge <br /> Theresa Cool , Board of Selectmen Liaison <br /> The minutes of the August 10, 2006 meeting were reviewed and approved. <br /> The Board of Selectmen accepted the resignation of Ann Bradshaw from the AICA <br /> Cottee and appointed Ira Cook in her place at heir meeting on August 21,Zoo , <br /> Procedures for contacting the ADA Committee were published in the Mashpee Enterprise <br /> on August 25, 2006. Some committee members indicated that all town employees may <br /> not have been informed of the procedures via in-house correspondence. Marilyn, Charlie <br /> and Ira suggested they could spread the word through communications means at their <br /> disposal. <br /> Mert has discussed the feasibility of establishing parking patrols which would be <br /> authorized to ticket handicapped parking violators with Deputy Chief Al Todino. <br /> I /Chief Todino supported the idea and is grilling to assist in developing procedures, <br /> obtaining equipment and providing any training required;however, he must obtain <br /> approval from Chief Collins. Near the end of our meeting, Mert contacted I /Chief <br /> Todino and learned Chief Collins fully supports the concept. Mert will keep on top o <br /> this issue. The committee agreed the program should he handled within TRIAD and kept <br /> "small and tight"to insure the patrols are acting appropriately and within the law. <br /> Eventually,we hope to be able to earmark money from the tickets for ADA projects and <br /> prograrns. At present,the money goes directly into the General Fund. The Torn Clerk <br /> maintains records of fines collected but we would have to obtain approval of the Town <br /> Manager and Board of Selectmen to develop a program for using some or all of hese <br /> funds for ADA purposes. <br /> Mert has discussed the need for obtaining addresses of commercial property owners i <br /> order to notify then of the requirement for proper handicapped parking signs. Scott <br /> Halloran, police Department Public Safety Office, maintains some of that information <br /> and will provide what he can. Terrie mentioned some, if not all of the inform. tion may <br />
