Bill w
volunteered to serve as committee liaison with Planning for this purpose. Since we do
not have much expertise or experience in plan preview, Richard and Charlie suggested Bill
(or other members) also discuss plans with Building Department to get their insights.
Richard and Charlie also provided anecdotal evidence of how the builders and developers
x
try to "slip things b "at various stages of the project. However, all departments are
resolved to see that violations are corrected whether they have permits or not.
Torn also suggested we review zoning by-laws to see if any changes may be necessary to }
better address ADA issues. If so,he indicated a continued willingness to assist with
drafting any articles necessary.
The Massachusetts Office on Disabilities(NIDD) is conducting a training program for r
Community Access Monitors in Harwich in October. This training is designed to provide
local officials the tools necessary to assess and advise regarding access of all types in
their community. This training should provide us the necessary knowledge to provide
more comprehensive and efficient assessment of access in existing and proposed projects. t
}
Y
S'
}
'J
