available 10% affordable housing stock, as well as 10% of CPC funds being set aside specifically
for affordable housing. The Chair reported that he was in receipt of a note of thanks from
Mashpee Commons for Mashpee’s endorsement of the state grant, and read the letter for the
record. The grant would be awarded during the first week of November, with development
occurring soon after. Ms. Egloff recommended that future warrants also include an image of
proposed affordable housing for residents to review.

New Committee Member
Chairman Abbott reported that he had forwarded to the Board of Selectmen the Committee’s
recommendation that Michelle Toby be appointed to the Affordable Housing Committee. Ms.
Toby had submitted a letter to the BOS asking to be reconsidered for the AHC. The BOS
recently accepted Michelle Springer’s resignation from the Committee.

Habitat Land Visit
Mr. Johnson reported that he and the Chair had met with the Land Acquisition contact for
Habitat for Humanity. The two lots on the warrant, Orchard Street and Strawberry Lane, were
discussed, as well as other parcels on the list of 14. The contact will be meeting with Town
Manager Joyce Mason. Mr. Johnson will follow up regarding the status of the RFPs. The Chair
pointed out that the lots could not be built by a developer, making them ideal candidates for
Habitat for Humanity, providing affordable housing and added to the tax roll. The Chair
indicated that they also looked at two lots on Cedar Street and one lot on Gina Way. Mr.
Johnson stated that they had also met with Town Planner Tom Fudala. Mr. Johnson indicated
that Habitat had a full building schedule for 2014.

Other Items Requiring Discussion
The Chair referenced the Cape Community Preservation Act Funding by town, which
highlighted the affordable housing as a percent of total revenue. Mashpee was 8.31%, listed
third from the bottom.

The CHAPA Housing brief showed that $1.4 billion had been awarded over 5 years.

The Cape Cod Commission will be holding a public hearing for Bridges at Mashpee at 10 a.m.
on November 18. The facility will be located on a 5-acre lot at 463 Old Barnstable Road and
will be a 54-unit proposed assisted living/memory care facility. The facility will be 45,000
square feet and will offer 60 beds in 3 household wings on a single story.

Ms. Egloff inquired about the number of hits the Affordable Housing website had received and
the Chair indicated that he would follow up with the IT Department in order to acquire statistics.

Selectman Richardson indicated that he would follow up regarding the RFPs on the Town
Meeting approved parcels. Selectman Richardson stated that Michelle Springer’s resignation
had been accepted with regret.

MEETING ADJOURNMENT
The next meeting has been scheduled for December 3, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.

2
