Agent) <br /> This proposal is to construct and maintain ain a. wood-pile pier, <br /> steps , ramp & float extending less than 45' into the waters <br /> of Po ppne s s e t Creek at Lot #269 Poone s s e t Island 1oa.d. <br /> Chris Clark, representative of the Agent , presented plans . <br /> He stated that the applicant was before the mmission two years <br /> ago to construct the house and noir desire to complete the project. <br /> Pilings on the water side will 'be driven in by barge . Pilings <br /> on the land side x ll be placed by hand. The pier will be <br /> elevated at least 5' above the marsh. One-inch spacing will <br /> occur between the planks of the pier to alloy sunlight to <br /> penetrate to the vegetation. Mr. Clark presented photographs . <br /> In Mr. Clark' s opinion, 'the structure will not be a hindrance <br /> to navigation, He noted the advantage that the structure will <br /> give pedestrian access o ver' the marsh and not ' O :IT . <br /> Mr. Clark notes a. minimal impact on shellfish in the area, <br /> The total length is 49, total. length, Measured from the edge <br /> f the water, the length is 30' , <br /> Ir. Holland, as abutter, questioned the necessity_ of the 0' <br /> length, Mr. Clark replied that where the gook ends is where <br /> the groundbegins to drop off. <br /> The dock will not be stored on the marsh . It will be stored in <br /> the upland area. <br /> Robert a.s im and Vernon Thomas , members of the Shellfish Commission, <br /> stated there are soft-shed clams and quahogs in that area. The <br /> do <br /> impact to s .ellfishing would probably be minimal after construction. <br /> As there were no further comments , discussion or questions , the <br /> Chairman declared the hearing closed and an Rader of Conditions was <br /> written and will be issued with the following special conditions <br /> 1 . The float must be stored upland of the wetlands .and <br /> the location designated made known to the Conservation <br /> Commission in writing. <br /> 2 . Construction shall be completed as quickly as possible <br />
